That is a Sarrus Linkage as everyone knows. My linear tracking tonearm uses the same principle.

Thank you chaps. I pop in occasionally and just saw the greetings.
Getting to 72 could get me believing in miracles but I think I will put it down to blind chance:)
I run both. The speakers are ESLs and into those, I certainly prefer the 303. I have tried the Kef 101 with similar results. My main amp is a Leak Stereo 20 and the 303 is closer to the sound of that...
Thanks Marco, wishes sent right back of course:)
Interesting trio.
Sparse does seem to sum up their style. I guess I don't really do chill out music, I like it to be going somewhere and leading me in interesting directions and not too slowly:)....
This is my week for being contrary! I disagreed with everyone about one thing on the slot racing forum.
I only look at two forums now, the slot cars as I'm still active in that and this one for a...
I think one of the problems is the 'useful' expression. In America, woodturning is thought of as wooden art. Looked at this way, it's enough just to have a beautiful object to have around and admire....
Thanks for posting them Allen.
None of this false modesty ta:)
No 5 does look rather alien, never really thought about it like that. Those last two and the apple bowl are still here and not for...
Nope, that's another thing that's different over here. The property market is very slow. Our next door neighbours have had theirs on the market for three years!! Nice house but that's the time scale...
Still at it then Al?
It still bugs me how undervalued woodturning is in the UK. That walnut bowl would cost two or three times that over here and more in the States.
Whilst I was turning here,...
Just stopped by as I do occasionally.
My main system is exactly the same then as it is now! Quad 57 / Leak Stereo 20 / Origin Live kit turntable / Pioneer PD7700 CD player. No box swapping here...
As most of the shoes I see are so flimsy as to be virtually invisible, I doubt they would take any form but floppy. Maybe I was lucky but the ones I have were extremely comfortable and a perfect fit...
Just what is wrong with second hand shoes?
A Dutch friend of ours lost his father a few years ago. He wore the same size as me in just about everything. He was a wealthy man and I now have the...
Nice deck that. I had to replace the arm lift belt for someone and naturally, had a listen whilst it was here. Very solid engineering and very solid sound with a Shure V15.
She doesn't listen to...
Ah yes indeed.
I too now listen mostly to the Mac. I have even dumped the external DAC and feed the amp - an old Rogers Ravensbrook - from the Mac's headphone socket. Although not so hi-fi, I feel...
Whilst I agree that good speakers (I have Quad 57s) are much preferable to headphones, some of us don't have the choice. Unless I sit about a foot from the speakers, I can no longer hear them...
Ah well, you are obviously all still youngsters and into all these latest trendy thangs.
I'm 71 (and a half) and well into my dotage.
Another age thing! Streaming:scratch:
The cloud in general leaves me cold. As we are talking about possessions, it seems pertinent. What happens when it goes down or disappears? No music, no...
I only visit here occasionally as my ears have reduced my enjoyment of the 'hi-fi' considerably even if not the music. Headphone rule most of the time for me now.
We are trying to thin out our...
Thanks all,
I just have to steel myself to sell it now. No point in hanging on to it to look at!
Hello Al,
We have to sell here first. The market is not the same as in the UK. Our neighbours have had theirs on the market for two years and only one enquiry!
The Leak had a rebuild about ten...
Now that I'm a deaf old git (the deafness is increasing, the old git bit seems to have been with me for ages) I think I should sell off a few more bits of hi-fi as I can't hear the damn things.
...
Timetable is 'flexible'...... it very much depends on the sale of this place and France doesn't do rapid house sales like the UK. We are sort of hoping for the spring. We can say with Ronnie's...
The houses we have been looking at are all within easy reach of Inverness. Up the coast a bit or more inland towards the lochs. Certainly my preference.
Hi Marco and Geoff,
Although I don't do hi-fi now, I still do music. Probably more now as I don't worry too much about the gear. Sennheisers and Rogers Ravensbrook with the Mac does me fine.
We...
