Thanks for letting me know. Now I know I have my work cut out for me.
Nope. I have not moved on. I've had my 2 1200's since 1986. The best looking TT's ever made were the Technics DD TT's.
I'd put the Denons Yamahas and the JVC's right up there as well.
I did not know that. Hope Marco recovers real soon.
OK, although this has been a dormant thread for years, I am attempting to revive it. Hello everyone from Westchester New York.
Or more like Niagra Falls New York as I am on a bit of a mini...
Same here. Totally get it. But I had my phone preamps (I have two for two turntables on two systems) modded with upgrades that took it to a whole other level which pushed them over the $1000 mark. ...
It's been years since being on this forum. I've been reading this thread and may be able to contribute with some words of wisdom that may help understand on how to help Mikeandvan understand the...
I forgot to add -
For those who don't wish to replace their tonearm - there is a more economical solution to elevating the sound of your turntable:
Replacing the stock cable with a KAB solution...
You are better off ditching the original stock cables and going with more competent cables. Perhaps a KAB solution with really good RCA chassis jacks, which will allow you to use any cable you wish.
I've done this myself with my TT. Working with small parts is no joke with the regulators. Luckily I have some decent (not perfect) equipment to get the job done. Along with that is patience !!!!
Its been a few years since I have been on this forum. I am back to see what has changed in the SL-1200 world.
Being the author of this original post outlining the detail on how to mount the baseplate to the TT, the base plate brings improvement in ensuring additional rigidity between the turntable base and...
You mean... my instructions are no longer valid????
Sniff Sniff....

What is the difference between Ians bearings and what David Cowley (used) to offer ?
Just wondering as I am following this thread with interest.
Beautiful work !!!
Any chance you can make a headshell for a stock 1200 arm?
Which Brass Spikes did you get? And where did you get them? Do you have feet for them?
The reason you would want to use Isonoe feet over the stock feet is because no unwanted vibration will go into the turntable from the floor vibration (most notably from speakers or footsteps) which...
For any of you who do not know, or are new here, I ordered a couple of armboards from Speedy Steve for my turntables in the USA. I purchased one armboard for the Ortofon RS-212D and another for...
Thanks much Marco!!!
Retiring the tone arm is the most economical improvement you can make to improve the sound o your beloved techy turntable. The wiring they use in the stock 1200 is cheap. I am not certain if it is...
Can someone make this a sticky again?
I am not from London, but if you are thinking of investing in the Mike New Baseplate, I highly recommend it.
maybe Marco may be using the baseplate as he is much closer than I towards London. ...
At first, I thought Marco was talking to me. Glad I checked in to see what all the chatter is about....
Cant wait to get the armboards from Speedy Steve so that I can compete with Marcos...
Steve -
the he armboards look great. I can't wait to get them!!!!
thanks for all your efforts you put into them!
Mike
OK, its time to ask for some help here. One of my turntables is speeding out of control. It was pulled over and got a speeding ticket as a result. :eyebrows::eyebrows::eyebrows:
