I use KEF R5's which are also a bit difficult in the low frequencies down around 3.7 Ohms but my class A power does a good job.
If it sounds good then maybe it is good ?

Thank you Kevin. Much appreciated.
Really sorry if this subject has been posted before but I wanted to give a shout out to this cafe, NY500, close to Pickering in Ryedale, North Yorkshire. It opened recently and is a fantastic place...

Money for old rope. Or old audio
Bloody Hell yeah I had started as an apprentice lab tech on probably the same wage. In my delusional 14 year old head I envisioned myself as a Brian Eno synth wizard making amazing sounds and...
Brian, I hear you loud and clear. Twenty odd quid is a lot of bloody money for an LP regardless of the fact it is no longer 1973. If we now have to pay over twenty quid for one vinyl LP it is...
Back in the early seventies at the age of fourteen I became slightly hooked on the Roxy Music album 'For Your Pleasure' and played my original album on some serious grot that rendered it knackered...
Id love to know just what it is that gives moving coils such a beautiful, lush midrange. I've had experience of a few during my time with hi-fi and their sound is generally stunning.
Mmm... interesting. Could this be why Heaven 17's Penthouse and Pavement sounds so shite...? Mine is so toppy and shrill. Maybe, maybe not.
I remember owning a Cambridge Audio CD2 back in the late eighties that had an LED to show de-emphasis was on or off. I also remember that Howard Jones' album was recorded that way.
Whilst I'm on the subject of analogue setups, does anyone remember the original Ultimo 10X ? I bought mine back in 1979 brand new at a cost of sixty five quid. Slightly different to the current...
Thank you for the comments you guys. To be honest Brian I haven't a clue.
Thank you Geoff

Well had a music sesh last night with the main CD being 'Ultra' by Depeche Mode. Once again stunned by the sheer resolution of these things. Had it not been for the soundstage being behind my head,...
Slightly similar, years ago I sold a Pentax 67 camera via ebay to a guy in France. Two weeks after sending it I received a message telling me that the camera was smashed beyond recognition and he...
I remember back around 1983 listening to a pair of Celestion SL6's and being completely blown away by the vocal realism. The track in question was by Joan Armatrading 'Love and affection' and was...
Oh man, so jealous of a proper listening room.
:youtheman:
Yes David with regard to the very best around, the sound of space and air along with the liquid purity was stunning and so much better than I have now so many years later but it was a hugely flawed...
Yep, the humbucker knobs reduced the hum but never got rid of it. The amp was built by World Audio themselves as was the accompanying KLP1 preamp which was faultless but the power amp, even though...
So far so good. These headphones are just so revealing when compared to my 'speaker system but differ in that they are quite hard and direct compared to the KEF's. When listening to electronic music...
My only experience with 300B's was a WAD 300B PP directly heated triode setup and guess what..? It hummed like a bugger. Bloody lovely sound quality but I just couldn't get over the low frequency...
ebay lol
Only just spotted this and had it not been for Rob I would have snapped it up.
Well done Rob.
