Well I paid £750 in 1996 so they weren't dirt cheap but they did sound way better than the competition that I auditioned at the time.
I've got a pair of these I bought in 1995, partnered (then) by Arcam Alpha 9 and 9P bi-amped.
Long story short, I got into DIY audio early 2000's and the Ruarks were retired to the spare room and...
We switched to a Miele G6620 SC freestanding dishwasher a couple of months ago after the old Whirlpool heating element went (tripped the RCD each time it ran).
New machine is way better than the...
It should be possible. There are some unknowns to overcome though. Obviously you'd need to know the pinouts at each end, plus whether the signals are 5 volt or 3.3 v logic. (or potentially even 1.8v)...
I binned Sky over a year ago (after being a customer for 20+ years) and went over to TalkTalk, only to be very disappointed with the TalkTalk box (very clunky and slow, sooo far behind Sky's HD box)...
There is really nothing inherently dark or hidden about it. It's a media hype thing, calling it that.
As far as I am aware the dark net as they call it is simply websites that do not have a DNS...
"fing" is very useful, thanks for the tip!
I love those early/mid 80's tape decks. All flourescent displays and millions of buttons. :-) I had an Aiwa (couldn't afford a Nak) and it was a thing of beauty. One like this:

You can still get CDPro2 but the price is high as they...
Hi Martin,
I would very much agree with you that in all audio equipment it is the power supply and grounding that probably has the most bearing on sound quality, especially in the digital realm....
I've had at least two Seagate Barracuda fail prematurely, so I switched to WD and have yet to have one of those fail, but I'm sure they will at some point, they all do eventually.
It seems Hitachi...
1. How easy to set up depends on what you want to do with it and which player you load. piCorePlayer is a doddle, Volumio is a bit more fiddly but works fine if your demands aren't too great. I...
Fantastic looking amp!
Yes, they were very inoffensive to listen to as I recall. One of the defining sounds of the late 80s for me.
For listening with headphones when away from home in hotels I use a Colorfly C3.

The user interface sucks but the sound quality is superb and it...
I have the Alpair 7s in my FH3's built for me by Colin Topps. Great drivers, I love 'em.
Great job on your cab building project. They look amazing!
That's a whopping big blast furnace.
Pity we have so few left now. :steam:
Surely said mats go on the label side? Am I missing something but how can that affect the distance to the laser?

+1 on Otex. Great stuff. You tend to go deaf as a post while they're working though so only do one ear at a time! (Not that it's very practical doing both ears at the same time as you have to let the...
+2 for Lumix. My wife and I both had TZ range and they're great point and shoot with huge zoom range and very reasonable picture quality.
Who knew Maplin might have something useful? :eyebrows:

A possibility maybe? This thing is a wifi...
+1 for Cat5e.
When we bought our Victorian house a couple of years ago which needed a full rewire I used the opportunity to get the sparkies to pull in Cat5e solid UTP unshielded from 7 rooms...
