Due to space restrictions, my SL-1610Mk2 will be the front end in my livingrom for a while. There's simply no room for the big ones.
I already have the KAB silicone dampener (great mod, IMO) and...
I see. Have you considered looking for an SP-25?
I've seen pictures of a deck with an additional 12" arm built by a Japanese modder.
From what I can recall, he used one or both hinge mounts to fasten an extra armboard.
I've since tried to find...
I'm sorry, but that's not correct. The first runs of the Mk2 do not have the anti-resonant insert. It's just a single slab of rubber.
Those decks are easily recognisable by the large hole in the...
I think those came with the SL-1200Mk2GLD's... Anyone here know something about this?
Original. Says so on the box... ;)

Similar in shape, but an inch longer...
I've looked up the numbers, and the correct mounting distance is 235mm (stock arm approx. 220mm). Arm mount size is 38mm. Looks like it could work.
If you already have the arm, I think you'd be better off getting an SP-25, which seems to go for about the same price as the SL-1200Mk2 on the S/H market.
I'm not sure if there's enough space to...
The platter is 100% identical on the SL-120Mk2 and SL-1200Mk2. Must be an optical illusion :) I've added a couple of pics from the side.
I've got an SL-120Mk2 complete with the user manual, as well as several SL-1200Mk2's, and the SL-120Mk2 is nothing more than an armless SL-1200Mk2 from the same period.
The only difference is a...
OK. Most audiophiles seem to have the misconception that DJ's force the platter itself, so I thought it would be appropriate to clarify a little.
More OT, I've been following posts regarding...
Keep in mind that DJ's use slipmats, so the platter can move freely while they manipulate the records. Most DJ's are very lighthanded.
If you look at the strobe dots on the SL-1200Mk2 in a...
On the fly height adjustment, plus the fact that the KAB fluid damper fits perfectly. And, IMO, the damper is a significant upgrade.
The Mk1 arm is a bit heavier, but one can always put a heavier...
One of the cool things about the Mk2 of the SL-1800/1700/1600, is that a lot of the SL-1200Mk2 mods work on them. Same motor, platter and arm.
I've got an SL-1610Mk2, and will be modding it with a...
