Do people not use multimeters anymore ?
One of the very good reasons I stopped buying new vinyl, many are just making vinyl from digital recordings, and the point of that is, making money.
Not an Ortofon but you could try a Denon DL-110 high output MC cartridge, think they are still around to buy.
I very nearly did this once, I was planning to get all my vinyl copied onto CDs then sell all the vinyl.
Then I had second thoughts and I am glad that I did and did not carry the plan through.
Most new vinyl is not analogue anyway, it is just pressed with the digital recording, so whats the point in that other than a money grab ?
I agree with that.
I agree but it would take some kind of cleaning machine to remove every single item of debris from the grooves no matter how fastidious one was.
Be good to know which amplifier the turntable and speakers are connected to also.
I have found to my cost in the past but a stylus that gets into the bottom of the groove will give you
more snap crackle and pop, I have found that for less snap crackle pop run an eliptical stylus....
I have used it on both MC and MM cartridges but mainly on an MM, do not see why it should effect an MC cartridge, its just works on weight as far as I am aware.
Have and used one of these for ages.

Thanks for that :)
Thank you :)
Thanks for that, but should have put in th OP that I am UK based.
Where would be the best place to buy a stylus for the Shure 75EJ Type 2 cartridge, I am UK based.
Just found it in a box and want to give it a try :)
Also looking for details on the cartridge...
Somebody will
That's it :)
Very basic but it does explain the reason for faster tape speeds sounding better....
Thanks for that information, I have never used the liquid versions only the wadding type.
Duraglit/Brasso/Silvo all one and the same but all do a really good job.
Comes in a tin and is a very soft wadding like material soaked in a liquid.
Just starting out I would go for a Revox A77, easy to use and sound great.
Do not Know here you are in the world but I got my Revox A77 from Vintagetech, always worth contacting to see what they...
Have you a link for this please.
You can just copy and paste the URL from your browser into here when you post, like...
I have one here and the edge got torn, looks like cork to me, even the pattern you can see in it looks like compressed cork.
I see mentioned the Origin Live Upgrade Mat, this thing costs as good as £40 and is just a thin mat of cork dyed black.
Snake oil ?
I would think so.
