Hey chaps, sorry for going off topic but as you both seem to be well versed in the intricacies of Marantz CD players can either of you help with a CD-63 which has become a bit jumpy. Usually starts about a third of the way into a disc and very occasionally and then becomes completely unintelligible by about half way through. The last owner tried to clean the lens I think which might not have helped. I'm thinking it might be more of an issue with laser alignment. Happy to start a new thread on this to avoid spoiling this excellent one. Cheers
It is probably the gunk that is put on the laser sled. This hardens over time and prohibits the laser sliding smoothly. It is suggested that it is all cleaned off and nothing put on to replace it. I have been meaning to do mine for.......ooh too long.
It's not difficult......
I'll take a few pics and show you on a new thread a bit later :D
I thought it might be a case of just taking a few screws out, but when I looked at the drawer thingy I couldn't see any. At that point I had spent far too much time modding the thing that and I had had enough. Sounds great though:lol:
I am sure UV101 will tell us that it is a piece of piss:D
EDIT: Told you.
