In your youth records were not generally pressed on 180/200g vinyl, and the sleeves were not generally printed on thick card, with both things being common practise now.
That's why the protective outer sleeves have become bigger.

I'll stick to my big floppy types then. Thanks all for your input.
Does anyone have any experience of these...

They seem very cheap
Also, are the 250g ones OK or am i better paying the extra for 400g?
thicker the better. the thin ones are not good and deform when touched
Thanks, Grant. Also, these ones...

while more expensive are a smaller size (320x315mm rather than 330x325mm) than the standard variety so might be of interest to Andrew (AGK)
saw those recently somewhere.. that size is for non gatefolds i think. mine are just the thick normal hazy type. didnt have those when i was collecting. good to protect your investment
Are the VinylGuru gatefolds from Amazon as good as the reviews claim?40 pounds for a pack of 20 is not cheap, but would be worth it,if they are the best.
dont use gatefold sleeves as i find them more trouble than they are worth. take up a lot of room too, plus as you say, expensive. just as good in a single sleeve imo:)
I think i have got singles from VinylGuru lying around,i will try them soon as i finally started sorting out and storing my records. The gatefolds would be for very thick Mofi and the likes.
