don't know whether curing the protection mode issue is a major problem but if not this pioneer sa 8100 at £75 +£15 postage looks cheap.

For the money, its impossible to beat imo. £250ish for what is a superb tonearm is a bargain

This is same as mine. Great amp and worth money. Won't be that hard to get fixed either. They go often for £200/350 depending on condition

Why not just get a Denon PMA-350SE for about £60 and enjoy some remarkably good sound and plenty of poke. It may not be the ultimate amp, but it's damn good and you won't find much to better it under £400. If you're lucky, you may get one with the very good optional phono stage.
