Good win for you..Aberdeen just cant do it against celtic.. Gers were in a win, win, win situ no matter the result. Probably prefer this one tbh as we are now 3 points and about 14 goals in front..

Utd just beat chelski 2-1 so back to second above a rapidly improving Liverpool. both my sides 2nd lol
Yeah, the old firm back on top together, lol... TBH, with all the injuries we've got to key players, coupled with key players who are fit, performing well below par (Sinclair, Dembele, Lustig), it's amazing we've not had a worse time of it recently!
The result in Europe during the week was probably a blessing in disguise, as if we'd got through that tie, it would've simply papered over the cracks and been a distraction against going for another domestic treble (and most importantly ensuring that we win the league), and more games to play, which we don't need, in a tournament we'd have had no chance of winning...
What we need now is to get all (or as many) of our injured players back fit, and concentrate fully on the domestic front - and when we get those players back, I can't see anyone stopping us... Then build for next season's European qualifiers.
*However* I think that the forthcoming game at Ibrox, in a fortnight, has got all the hallmarks of a cracker, and if you guys keep winning up until that match, you'll be in the best position for a long time to beat us.
Marco.
Yeah, Liverpool in particular, looked fabulous and are beginning to reap the rewards of Klopp being given time to get his shit together. Utd are also improving under Mourinho, all of which will make for a fantastic battle for next season's title (as City have it in the bag for this year).

From the BBC Sport website, commenting on the Aberdeen vs Celtic game:
Pretty much what I was saying, but we'll need the bulk of our injured players back, in order to hit top form again! :cool:Quote:

Yes, well we have been without a good few of our best players too. At least you have a big squad... You will do fine and win. We will be closer this year and hopefully put an even better challenge in next year.:)
I honestly welcome that Grant, and hope so! :)
Quite simply, because the better that Rangers become, and start to properly challenge us for the title, the better we'll have to be, in order to stay on top, thus pushing up not only our standards, but those overall of the SPL - and that can only help us compete better in Europe.
It's going to get tougher all the time for Celtic (and especially other SPL teams) competing in that area, simply because of the disparity in the amount of money Celtic get, compared with the other leading clubs of the world [in terms of our history, huge support and worldwide fan base], so we need to be properly tested at domestic level, in order for that to happen.
Celtic (and Rangers) are teams that need to enjoy regular success in Europe, and certainly as far as Celtic are concerned, in terms of where they are now and where they need to be in future, in order to continue their current level of growth, *must* reach the group stages of the Champions League, following times when they qualify, by winning the SPL title, simply to get the £30m, or so, for doing so.
That's the minimum requirement now for Celtic to be where they need to be, and if Rangers should win be the SPL title and enter the Champions League as Scotland's representative, Celtic that season must make a decent impact on the Europa League, in order to maintain their current status and level of success - and those will be the club's goals even after BR has done his bit and moves onto pastures new, as the next man in charge will be expected to achieve no less, and will therefore have to be of a similar calibre.

Congrats too to City for a comprehensive victory in the Caraboo cup v Arsenal. a whopping 3-0 win and total dominance .. First of many trophies for Pep I guess.
Good result today for us (after a tricky week without playing a competitive game), and second half performance. The first half was dire and pretty forgettable, but credit goes to Morton who shut down space and stifled our creativity as much as possible.
In the second half though, we upped the tempo much more, and the introduction of Edouard helped change the game and gave Dembele more space on the ball, which he used to good effect. The penalty given for us wasn't one though, as it was outside the box. However, had it not been given, I don't think it would have changed the outcome of the game, as by that time Celtic were well on top - and there was really only one winner, as Morton tired from their earlier exertions.
All in all then, a good result that both puts us through to the semi-finals of the competition and gives us a welcome confidence boost ahead of next Sunday's game against Rangers. In terms of that game, the negatives for us are I think that Rangers can exploit our injury and suspension hit defence, and will De Vries be able to handle the pressure of playing against Rangers at Ibrox? For me he can sometimes look rather nervous in goal, in these types of games, and be prone to making silly mistakes.
The positives are that Dembele seems to have found his shooting boots again, and as he's a big game player I'm confident that both will thrive against Rangers and play a big part in the outcome. I also think that in future there exists the potential of a good partnership between him and Edouard. Another positive of course is some of our injured players coming back, and in that respect I'd expect to see Patrick Roberts taking some part in the game, especially if things aren't going Celtic's way.
In any case, I'm certain that this game won't end in a 0-0 draw, like the last one - and that it's going to be a cracker!
Good luck to Rangers tomorrow against Falkirk, although I don't think they'll need it, as I expect them to win comfortably.
Marco.
no idea how the game will go. o/f games can be impossible to guess; depends who turns up usually. good win today.
