Strong reccy for ‘A Quiet Place’, which I saw last night at a preview showing.

That looks good, Gaz... My kinda thing! I'll defo check it out
Just back from seeing Ghost Stories, in Liverpool - bloody brilliant!!! One of the best films I've seen in ages. Cleverly thought out, really eerie/atmospheric, and very scary [a real head-fuck] in places.... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
Marco.
I'm off to see this tonight, I had booked to see Ghost Stories but the Mrs said she wanted to see A Quiet Place instead so I phoned up and changed the booking. Seeing as ive bent over backwards for her I'm confident il manage to "strongarm" her into driving so I can have a few pints for once :D
Well its getting good reviews but I dont know how you stretch out keeping quiet over 90 minutes.
Its usually the type of film that lets me down but it may be worth checking this one out.
My view is that films are getting worse and the horror/thriller scene is all but dead in terms of good directors. Ive seen some rubbish in recent years and Im waiting for the film industry to pick itself up again.
I couldn't agree more Martin, especially the horror scene - very rare that I get anything near scared these days. However, 'A Quiet Place' is very good, so much so I've seen it twice and may go again. I think it's testimony it's still on after all these weeks. More thriller than horror, but as Gaz says, it's edge of the seat stuff. I loved it.
Very rare for an entire cinema to be silent whilst watching it too, they can be a noisy bunch in Cardiff normally, but not with this one :)
I've seen Mission: Impossible - Fallout twice since Wednesday and I have to say it's a thoroughly good ripping yarn, highly recommended for action movie fans. This franchise, for my money, is evolving to a much higher standard than Bond :)

Yes, thumbs up for Mission Impossible here too. Really well paced. Relentless cliff hangers and way way over the top, but such a good blast. It just amazes me that Tom Cruise still manages those stunts.. The scene where he's jumping between buildings is excruciating because the bit where you see his ankle twisting in very much the wrong direction was real and the next scene where he's limping along is him with a real broken ankle..
It's also a very good Dolby Atmos mix. One of the best I've heard, so worth seeking out an Atmos cinema to get the full effect. My local Telford Odeon has just re-opened with one Atmos screen and it sounds excellent in there. I shall be making more effort to go to the cinema now..
Going to see this tomorrow night:
