These ones are active. Whatever that means lol. Got a set coming
Duumo but they are called active on them
The performance is down to the Redmere technology and Monoprice are only one of several manufacturers using it.
I am sure the Monoprice cables are as good as the Amazon ones but the shipping and import charges make them poor value for money.
I can recommend the Amazon cables which are well made and perform well.

Couldn't find anyone in the UK that stocks them unfortunately.
Never got stung for postage the way you guys are.
Monoprice has a UK outfit, but no HDMI cables.

Be good if there was a UK stockist, but alas no. (least that I could find!)
Can only speak to the Monoprice ones, as those were the ones reccommended on American AV forums and the only one I've tried.
To me its as good an HDMI as you'll ever need, it bettered a Wireworld Platinum Starlight 7 with my new AV setup.
Was prepared to buy one, but the Monoproce was better.
I say suck up the postage and get one. :)
Getting mine from Amazon us for total of £20 delivered. More than I would usually spend but hey ho
It looks to me like the long lengths of the Amazon basic HDMI cable has the Redmere gubbins and the shorter lengths don't. If you switch between the various cables the word Redmere disappears. I think they probably don't put it in the shorter cables cos it is not required...
