Brilliant video that I wish I didn't watch as I really want a pair of Harbeth speakers now but I could never afford them, if anyone is giving them away to a good home let me know :please:

I entirely agree. Such logical flaws and invalid similes seem common in hi-fi. As a component that generates the music (together with the musician) it is fine, desirable even, for an instrument to posses a characteristic colouration or character. However, once the music reaches the hi-fi the artist has generated the sound that is intended - the hi-fi isn’t yet another instrument intended to randomly add its own character to the music.
on a slightly different point i am struck that i can buy a pair of harbeth pro audio 40.2 for around 7.5 k . now i know they are not beautiful in grey with handles but presumably they sound the same as the domestic 40.2 at 11k ish ??
am i missing something or is that a cheaper way to get a pair of 40.2 ?

Well spotted.
I bought a pair of tatty grey Harbeth M20s ( the forunner to the present model ) which sounded so much better than
LS3/5as.
I had them resprayed in black ( by a car paint shop, for £40 ) and they looked stunning.
Slightly regret selling them, but my black P3-ESRs are superior loudspeakers.
