Never had a sheepskin coat or an Afghan but I did have a fur coat turned inside out.
Bought it on the flea market in Liverpool - also found out very quickly why they called it the flea market :lol:

I had an afghan coat in the early seventies, and it was rather smelly, especially when wet.
One night a pissed young female decided the smell could be improved by tipping a load of patchouli oil over it. When I got home my mother accused me of
"smoking drugs", her logic being that a couple of drug-taking hippies (her words) often came in the shop where she worked, and they smelled exactly the same.
Maybe it's a nostalgia thing, but I still like the smell of patchouli (don't come across it much these days).
You get used to it in churches;)
