Is there a DIY speaker grill cloth (black) that truly has no effect on the sound. If so, where do I buy it?

Have used this in the past. http://www.wilmslow-audio.co.uk/grille-cloth-347-p.asp
Thread title edited, unless you plan to 'grill' the cloth with some onions?;)
Marco.
There isn't any cloth that is truely transparent and doesn't have any audible effect. Chiffon is probably the least invasive, as is any open-weave lightweight cloth.
Bear in mind however, that some speakers were designed to take the decorative grille material into account. Consequently, you should try to find a replacement that is as close to the original cloth, both in appearance (density of the weave) as well as in weight per unit area.
Hi. I have this grille cloth over my speakers. It is relatively cheap so if it does not work for you then little lost
I find that it sounds OK inplace.....but sounds better without.
When its put back it is not nearly as before.....Go figure!!
Its also useful to keep dust off the drivers and it comes in dark brown
I think it was this company that I used for the Acoustic Speaker Grill Cloth for my JBL L40's
