    Hi Marco
I want to thank you for the two ECC83 valves you left with me. My immediate sensation was extra clarity and an improvement in the tightness of the sound stage. Living with these for the week and a bit has only confirmed my original feeling.

The only problem is where replacements may be found.

Can you tell me again what these valves are? I did not fully understand your introduction to them!

    regards
    Dave Mawby
  2. Hi Natalie,

Nice to hear from you. Sounds interesting, so keep me posted. If I'm free when you're planning on doing it, I'll pop up and bring my deck with me

    Marco.

Hi Marco, Dom and I attended the Whittlebury hall show. Anyway, whilst there we listened to some very impressive valve amps from Ikon, the guy is come down on Friday with some of his collection. Dom is going to be a possible dealer. He is also going to have is 301 in a plinth and do some work on the technics. So I was wondering if you would like to come down with your technic and have a listening session. i plan on inviting a couple of others, but it wont be a bake off as such, just a few avid vinyl buffs, I'm not sure when it will be and I will let you know in advance. Let me know what you think.

    Regards Natalie
  4. Hi Marco, Can I just say how much entertainment I am currently getting from 'KrautRock' please don't ban him too soon as his comments are obviously meant to inflame and are so lame they are quite comical. Just a thought...

    Hello Marco

I'm brand new here from Germany and try to find infos for modifying the SL-1210. I get a new JELCO SA-750D with a full revision check and new through-going cabels. Would be a SME 309 a much better sound for the 1210 in your view? Now i'm also looking for a PSU, and find so far the ones from KAB, Soundhifi & Origin Live. The guy how is helping me with the JELCO is checking now Dr. Fuss who is called one of the PSU expert for turntables here in Germany. The price would be approximately around 250 €.

In your posts i read you are going really deep in to the subject, but i think that would be too expensive for me. I just would like to know, what are for you the main important things to when you upgrade a 1210 where you make the biggest steps for a better sound.

    Thank you

    Florian
  7. Hi Natalie,

You can't really post without registering, other than sending visitor messages, like this. Best therefore just to share Dom's account and sign your contributions with your own name.

What's the problem with the SL-1200? Don't expect it to sound great in stock form - it needs a fair bit of work before it becomes a serious T/T!

    ATB,
    Marco.

Hi Marco, Ive ried to register on AOS but as the server is already being used by Dom the computer wont let me register? Would it be ok if I posted without registering. We have recently purchased a Technics SL1200 and I have not been impressed with it. Dom bought it for me to bling up and I would like to get some idea's from different members as this is going to be a project for us both and to help me become more ofey with turntables. I'm quite aware that some of the members on AOS are avid technic fans, but as most of our work is based around idler turntables, I haven't had a lot of experience with the technics/pioneers. Please can you let me know if that is ok.

    Regards Natalie
  9. Hi Marco, hope you are well. We have finally got our first batch of valve amps ready for sale. It's been a nightmare getting this far and we missed our aimed for price point but only just. Do you fancy having a try out of one? I can send one up to you, you can play with it for a week or two and then I can get Parcelforce to come and get it back.
Let me know via pm if you are interested.
    All the best,
    Dave
