Streamed a movie from Lovefilm tonight using the Playstation app and im gobsmacked at the quality. No smears or pixels. Much better than Qriocity, Sonys effort which is piss poor quality in comparison.
Astonishing:eek:

Interesting Colin, i had BT attempting to sell me internet TV a while ago & frankly i wasn't interested due to the bandwidth limitations. A decent blu ray will need about 30Mbps consistantly, do you mind me asking what your broadband download speed is?

Its sky so its meant to be 20mb but i measured it a at half that.
I cant stream HD of iplayer so its not that good. Ive been told BT is better.
The free stuff on Lovefims is pretty good.

Guys it's not just your download speed but also the speed at which the server you are downloading or streaming from allows you to go at, streamed HD movies can be successfully watched without problems (buffering) at about 6mbps, but it does depend quite a lot on where the movie is comming from and not just your download speed.

Ah, makes sense. This is one reason i got the PS3, to get the Lovefilm app and im very pleased. I like the fact i can choose what i want when i want.
I cant seem to pay for new movies though, only free ones.

Got a similar thing on the xbox360 it's called Zune I think, i can stream SD films no prob but HD needs to be downloaded, however that's all down to my 2.7mbps connection, for the record BT suggest a minimum download speed of 5mbps for HD streaming

are the films streamed in HD then?

As i mentioned earlier, decent blu rays run at about 30Mbps, so if you can sustain only 5Mbps then something tells me it isn't the same thing :eyebrows:

It might be 720P though which isn't bad at all :)

Im sure i heard its 720. Its still bloody good. Not a hint of droupout and looks great. Im using a £5 Alba and Belkin adsl screened cable ino a open reach junction box.

720p, Thats all you get from Sky live isn't it?

I've got it ready to roll just not watched anything on it yet. really should give it a go!

on Zune on the xbox360 some are 720 some 1080 it depends on the movie, but if you have the bandwidth of upwards of 5mbps you can stream HD, and by the way it looks bloody good too.

Ohhhh and if any of you guys are using non cable broadband and you have poor download speed i would suggest getting an "accelerator" from BT, it helps to cut out background noise caused by the cable and helps to increase download speeds

I dont think it will make adifference to me as my junction box says open reach which should mean it has a filter cap inside
