The thing is it's not simply a case of "It's my ball" - someone has to be in charge and make decisions otherwise arguments would go on until infinity.

I've copied the above from an intriguing thread that referred in part to another thread that's been deleted (I think). It's frustrating, like hearing someone getting hot and bothered on a mobile phone; you wish you could hear the other side of the conversation. I'm very much a newbie on Art of Sound but I'm a member of a couple of car forums plus AudioKarma (US based audio site) and in my experience, no matter how contentious a thread is, sooner or later if left to its own devices people lose interest and it dies a natural death. Americans seem very edgy about arguing politics, but there's a subsection on AK called Back Alley Politics . Set up originally as a political 'cave within a cave', a hell of a lot of general ranting takes place but without exception, even the most contentious points, no matter how well argued, won't keep a thread alive forever. In my opinion, unless there's basic rule breaking, such as posting links to porn sites or direct vilifying of one member by another, would it be a bad thing to let rancid threads just fade away? It takes two (or more) sides to keep an argument going; it's a hollow victory to be the last man shouting in an empty room................:goodnight:
