We all have our thing about dates for things of passion, my IC engine thing is for early Engines especially ones you have to set fire to to get them started, i don't do steam either, some of these people seem to think they are eleetist a bit like some of the high end Hifi users.
The newest Engine i posess is from about 1930 and the oldest at the moment is from 1903, if you start going into pre 1900 the prices rocket.

Here's a link to our small club ( i'm vice chaiman)

Here's a link to IC Engine Museum in Wales that i have helped in the past with leads and information for them to accuire a couple of their engines.
Paul likes the big uns as well and he loves Diesels

Couple of years ago the Preston 'O' Gauge Group rented a space next to the place I worked at and would meet every Wednesday to play with their railway set discuss important aspects of model making.

If you think hi-fi is obsessive believe me these guys are in a different league. The attention to detail is incredible and the engines cost thousands to make, all the stations are correct and to scale apparently. (I am not the Ralph referred to in the video!)

I know my dad's a nutter, the engines have to be made from Scratch to scale drawing out of Brass, nothing else will do.Every nut bolt & rivet has to be there.

Indeed, you really do have to see the things up close to fully appreciate the workmanship/attention to detail that goes into them.

Kudos to your dad if he can make stuff like that, the skill and dedication required are rare indeed and I suspect becoming ever more scarce in this short attention span age.

Cheers.
