the little audio company (https://www.thelittleaudio.company/) will be exhibiting at the Home Hi-Fi Show in Harrogate this weekend (21st/22nd).

We will have the Convert Technologies Plato all-in-one system (https://www.thelittleaudio.company/convert-technologies-plato) alternating between the new KEF Q250 and Q550 loudspeakers (https://www.thelittleaudio.company/kef-q-series-loudspeakers).

the little audio company (https://www.thelittleaudio.company/) had a great time at the Home HiFi Show in Harrogate over the weekend.

The centre piece of the show was the Convert Technologies Plato all-in-one system (https://www.thelittleaudio.company/convert-technologies-plato). The Plato's internal hard drive was providing CD quality and hi-res music, and driving the KEF Q550 floorstanding loudspeakers (https://www.thelittleaudio.company/kef-q-series-loudspeakers). The Plato was linked up to the hotel room's TV via HDMI in order to mirror the front display of the Plato so that listeners could easily see what was playing at any given time.

The Q550s, being a sealed cabinet design, worked well in the room, and were fairly unfussy of positioning. They looked quite stealthy in their matt black finish. Not that that helps in taking a good photo...

And lastly we come to a second system we were running - the KEF LS50 Wireless loudspeakers (https://www.thelittleaudio.company/kef-ls50-wireless-loudspeakers). These were streaming music from the Convert Technologies Plato, so effectively using it as a NAS drive, using the newly updated control app which is now far more stable than before, and worked faultlessly over the course of the weekend.

As you can see, the LS50 Wireless were carefully placed on bespoke stands (available directly from The Old Swan Hotel), and the app settings used to help them perform as well as they did in the room. Plenty of great feedback from these, and those who heard the Infected Mushroom track I played can testify that these little things are no lightweight!

We used the older KEF Q500's up until earlier this year and loved them. In some ways our current B&W CM8 S2's are not as good.

Really pleased you had a good show.

Thanks!

I like the older Q500, although many didn't as they were a little lean sounding, but because of that, I found they were good for smaller rooms. They just needed the right amp to get the most out of them. The new Q550 is quite different in presentation. It's a more lively sounding speaker which has lost most of its slight boxiness sound, and now digs deeper with a bit more bass too - overall it sounds more 'free of the box' so to speak, and sounds sweeter than the Q500 too.

That's good because my problem with the Q500 was its ragged mid and treble which I wasn't really keen on. The new B&W's have a much sweeter treble and a massively neutral mid in comparison but completely lack the bottom octave or so of bass which the KEF's certainly did not.

Looking good. Great choice of music BTW - a very under-rated album.
