Hi all,

I'm on the look out for some sensitive speakers and found this range from Sony. Sensitivity ranges from 92-96 across the range.

Does anyone own a pair ? Does anybody know if they are any good ? Online prices are about £200 for a good pair.

Quoted as 102db. They were around £140 a pair in 1971, that's more than the Tannoy 15" Monitor Gold Lancaster's were at the time. In modern terms that would be a few grand now.

No. That's just a minor scuff on the pressed card edge insert. Means nothing.

Hmm. Could be. It's a flat foam ring I believe.

I'd just replace it. But most people wouldn't take that on.

I've asked the guy and he says it is perishing. Hmm, easier to just replace the driver ? There's one on eBay but at £70 all in its getting much over budget.

Offer him £150. Then if you get them, gently give the foam surrounds a tidy doping coat of Allene's Tacky Glue to stabilise them (that's what I used on my Tannoy surrounds). They should be OK then for a couple of years. If they eventually fall apart, send the units to me and I'll put new surrounds on them. :)
