Anyone seen Taboo on the BBC ?

One of the most gripping and exciting things I've seen on TV for quite a while. Full of brooding and dark menace and a storyline I found quite gripping.

Tom hardy what do you expect brilliant
Haven't seen the second episode yet got a feeling it's going to be a grower

I've now watched both episodes twice and that's not something I ever do. For some reason I find it totally gripping.

Did you watch peaky blinders that was a BBC production. The BBC produce some rubbish but every now and again something gripping turns up. Btw tom hardy played the Jewish gangster in peaky blinders and was on a par with cillian Murphy great actors great storylines

I have Taboo recorded, not watched it yet.

I really couldn't get on with Peaky Blinders though. The best thing I watched last year was The Night Manager.

So, I'll give Taboo a go tonight.

I tried to watch taboo but I just find Tom Hardy's voice / pronunciation so ridiculous I couldn't manage more than about 20 minutes. My wife watched it all and said it was great stuff but I think that's as much to do with Hardy's near-nude scenes as it was with anything else.

My wife watched it and thought it was a pile of shite. (Haven't seen it myself, apart from trailers).

No, didn't watch that. Saw a few minutes and gave up. Perhaps I should have persevered.

My Wife didn't like Taboo as it is far too dark and violent for her.

Ditto on the wife. I enjoyed it.
I read a book about Run (the nutmeg producing island) and the early East India company dealings and battle with their Dutch counterparts. Back in Elizabethan and James 1st era.
Vicious is the only word to describe it.

Ha - now why doesn't that surprise me.... Out of interest though, in what way was Taboo considered as "a pile of shite", by our good lady wife? Not 'intellectually taxing' enough for her, was it? ;)

Taboo rocks! :ner:

'Lots of blokes shouting at each other in the dark' was her description.

I am really enjoying this series, it has a real sense of menace. My new AV amp set to DTS: Neural X produces some really creepy sounds from behind the settee!

It's not often that I look forward to a programme on TV but as soon as each episode of Taboo is over, I can't wait for the next Saturday.

Yes, Hardy's softly spoken, yet hauntingly disturbing voice was excellent. Anyone who didn't enjoy Taboo has their taste in their arse!

Shame the series is over now... Not to worry, one of my other fav TV progs is starting again soon with a new series: Line of Duty

I hope they do not overstretch this one

I just finished the season yesterday. I was a bit underwhelmed by the ending.

PS
A spoiler hiding tag would be nice, so that we can discuss it without ruining it for the others :)

There's a big hole where Taboo used to be.
