...there is a gentleman who uses the motto "hide unsightly wires"

He'd love this.

I have finally found the position for the hi-fi that sounds its best in the lounge. Up against the stairs so there is the width of them behind the Quads. The sofa is a foot out from the opposite wall as I reckon both Quads and listener should be out from boundaries if possible.(This is across the short dimension of the room Kevin!)

Problem is that, as you come up the stairs, you are greeted with the view that is hidden in most setups. This doesn't show the wiring between the gubbins on the top!!

Oh for a wireless future. maybe the all in one brigade have a point:rolleyes:

Put a drape or curtain over it.

That it is, much easier from the back instead of blindly feeling for the socket:)

Those TTs on the bottom look like they are tricky to use.

Nah, I just get Ronnie to lift the shelves up for a while!

Those supplementary supports under the Quad speakers also look ugly. The wires you can easily deal with as suggested, but are the supports really needed?

They are not supporting the Quads Barry, there is a half inch gap. They are just shoved under there as it's easier to pull them out when I'm playing with ordinary speakers rather than walking six feet to where they were stored previously!!

I'm going through a "why can't we clear the decks for when we move?" stage at the mo. Funny how Ronnie doesn't wan't to sell any of her hi-fi though!! I've been going through all the 'spare' speakers to see which I can bear to part with. Not doing too well.

Ah - understood. Which is just as well, as your new Quad frames/end cheeks are too good to be sullied by those other supports. :)
