Hi,

I tried a lot of TT including well regarded ones : some vintage technics 1200 and SP10, thorens 125&126.
Also VPI, Brinkmann, Wilson Benesch, clearaudio, some Rega as well and a Lenco PTP.

Well, at this point the one who impressed me the most was the Lenco PTP. I sold it because I was really upset when I destroyed my EMT TSD 15 because of the magnetic attraction of the spindle !! What a mistake.

The only one I found better was the Brinkmann. Same kind of groove and foot taping.

I also sold it for financial reason.

Then I decided recently to restore a 78 that I grabbed for beer money.

My goal is to maximize the original design and try to listen to the best Lenco but without PTP.

I bought a nice plinth as the original was in plastic, a new spindle, I sent the arm (who was broken) for a requiring and new tube and finally got a decent mat.

Here the result :-) just waiting a decent headshell as this one is totally twisted!!!!

Hi Chris,

Beer money for a TT is good.
Assuming the headshell socket on the end of the arm is aligned correctly, as you say you have a new arm tube, I would say that with your apparent DIY skills you should be able to straighten the twisted headshell.

When I got my 75 the headshell was bent downwards, with the connector on the back a bit loose.

I removed the connector completely and was then able to straighten the back face of the headshell properly. I then glued the connector back in the correct place using superglue. Might well be worth giving it a try as replacement headshell can be expensive. :)

Excellent turntables Lencos. In the last few years they have started gaining the recognition they should always have had.

There are not many arms where one can alter the effective length, the overhang and the offset angle. Too many variables IMO.

Nice work though. Shame about the EMT TSD-15: they are my favourite cartridge.

Hi Barry,
You're right, I just can't live without he original headshell ;-)

Well, about the EMT (one of my fav too) I geek rebuilt it, new coils giving a more MCish output voltage and a VDH boron , sounds sweet again ;-)
