Just picked up another Tascam 122 mk2 Pro Cassette deck for 50.
I was well impressed with my other 122 mk2 and these used to cost around $1000 when new, so when this one came up for 50 quid I took it even if I only keep it for spares :eyebrows:

Well done, Alan. That's a beauty! :)

How close does it get to your R2Rs, in terms of sonics?

Marco.

I was actually surprised how good it sounded probably 85%-90% of what a R2R does but there is a bit of tape hiss.
It doesent have the bottom end extension that R2R has but its pretty damn good
I haven't fettled it properly yest so better things to come?
It sound's markedly better than my Nak BX150E, and has took cassette to another level in my estimation

Nice one, Alan. Pretty much what I thought. If you haven't experimented already, try using the best NOS blank tapes from the 70s and 80s, from the likes of BASF, Scotch, TDK and Maxell, which you can find on Ebay (although not always cheaply), as in my experience they're considerably better than the more modern varieties :)

From the angle of the photo, I briefly thought the cassette deck had a tiny reel to reel sticking out of the top.
