I visited this forum several times about 3 years ago after inheriting some hi-fi gear from my father and I planned to buy some speakers but I got involved in a project writing a book that has subsequently kept me quite busy. Recently I looked in the wardrobe and realised I am never likely to buy those speakers or find time to sit down for any period of time and enjoy listening to music, so I reluctantly decided I should sell it.

About an hour ago I placed the amplifier for sale on eBay but then I thought about advertising it here instead and wondered if there are any requirements before placing a private ad? I collect vintage watches and one of the forums allows private ads but only after you have a couple hundred posts in your name.

Hi Ashley. No problem putting an ad in Classifieds if you wish your a member. You need to state a price, and you need to add pictures of the actual equipment etc. Good luck with the sale, and if the price is attractive then you probably stand a decent chance of selling here and avoiding ebay fees.

Love the avatar ...I'm a big Bilko fan

Thanks for the clarification struth. I didn't want to do anything wrong. The amplifier hasn't been used in a few years and I have no real way to test it but I showed some pictures to a couple of valve amplifier service specialists who said it should all be be fine because it had been modernised. I can put all these details in the ad and I'm happy to answer any questions I can.

I am big fan of Bilko as well and watched practically every episode with my uncle when I was growing up but the one with the monkey was probably the best. I use that avatar on quite a few forums.

Aye, Phil was an artiste.;) Re amp, if you dont know it works then take that into consideration when pricing as valves and caps may need replacing. A lot of top valve guys here though so may well be interest.

Sure I looked on eBay earlier and priced mine cheaper than the others with that point in mind. One of the specialists who looked at the photo said it had everything done already that he would replace if he was modernising an amplifier and the only thing that might need replacing was a part that would cost about £10. I actually have a bunch of spare valves that are included so that should be OK. I'll explain it all though and anybody can message or call me. Actually I'd welcome any visitors to see the amp in person.

Thanks will do. Actually I may just remove the advert from eBay for the time being since I can always put it back on if nobody here is interested.
