I had a pair of LFD amps about 4 years ago. They didn't stay long to be honest. Quite good clarity but they were a bit bright and thin for my tastes. They had some of that madly expensive speaker cable with them too. Again, just "uncomfortable" for my ears.

I had expected a different sound. A friend brought round a zero integrated many years ago and it showed promise, despite not really being able to drive my speakers at the time. The pre/power just sounded so different. All of them were very nicely made though.

This cracking little Trio amp is being ignored by the ebay punters which is a shame. I owned the same amp back in the 80's and it didn't disappoint me at all with its sound. Far better than the Pioneer, Sony, Akai and Rotel amps of the day.

Hmm not much though... An IEC socket, white led, increased idle current & 3 month warranty. I would expect the whole job to take 1-2 hours & cost about £20 in parts. Oh well "a fool & his money..."

Neither do I

I've had some dealings with him before, though I've not actually purchased from him. He doesn't admit to being a dealer on eBay and that's just not on because if he'd admit he was a dealer he has to offer a refund, for whatever reason or no reason at all under the Distant Selling Regs, which state that within seven working days, from the day after you receive your goods, he has to offer a refund

As he's got away with acting as if he's a private seller he continues to do so..... very naughty

He is always overpriced as well

While I was collecting them the seller asked if I wanted an old amp he had been using with them for free. As I never pass up a bargain I accepted his kind offer.

This is what he gave me!

In need of some TLC but what a nice project.

These little Trio amplifiers sound very good indeed. A bit like a Sugden A21, clean and open with no top end nasties. The tuner will be decent, but the sensitivity is low, you need a good aerial to get the best out of it.

While I was collecting them the seller asked if I wanted an old amp he had been using with them for free. As I never pass up a bargain I accepted his kind offer.

This is what he gave me!

In need of some TLC but what a nice project.

Personally I preferred the final version of the 770 Freedoms that had the oval tweeter escutcheon plate, but best of all were their bigger brothers, the 780 Argonauts.

Well, second best - the best were the 767s but they seem to be teetering on the edge of 'Did they actually exist or did we just imagine them?' folklore!

Shane, I've got Heresy II's as you probably know. I've not heard the Cornwalls but they are supposed to be like the Heresy's, just kinda more so....if that makes sense, people rarely sell their Cornwall's ;)

The only other Klipsch that I've heard was a pair of La Scala's and if I could fit them in my house I would have them in a flash. I've heard and owned many pairs of speakers in my time but the La Scala's are the ones that stand out.... apart from the Heresy's of course and I've owned 2 pairs of Heresy's

New Cornwall's are £1,999 EACH

Oh yes, these are very nice. I used to have a pair of the bigger L100.

Watch out for foam rot on the bass drivers (although they re-foam nicely if you work it into the price).

I have one (or should that be two, as it came with a second arm-wand?). Would like to resurrect it: but now unsure about the mercury contact arrangement. Ideally, I would like to have the arm-wands modified to bypass the mercury contacts, maybe through using a Lemo 4-pole plug and socket arrangement.

The damped unipivot arrangement would be ideal for use with Decca cartridges.

Actually, it's reassuring that I'm not the only one affected. It means it's less likely that my user I.D. has been singled out and hi-jacked. It may just be that eBay are doing maintenence, which does cock things up for users now and then, or possibly they have a hacking problem. I suppose I'd better check my PayPal account.

These little Trio amplifiers sound very good indeed. A bit like a Sugden A21, clean and open with no top end nasties. The tuner will be decent, but the sensitivity is low, you need a good aerial to get the best out of it.

Finished the auction early to me £30.00 ;) he's bringing them up this morning, as a bonus he has the optional wooden sleeves..That's another one for the collection  Im so desperate for Trio 'KA25000' & 'TK250' amps

Nice result there Andr'e. They're great little amps that deliver a superb quality of sound and nobody else seems to know about them.

Yes i have two 'KA2000' (The original 2000 with the brown facia's) I also have an even older version 'TK150' which was a germanium version that sounds even better, i actually bought this boxed as new old stock from 1969.

Well worth buying if you have a pair of Pembroke's especially early ones with foam unit surrounds, these look like later rubbers..Im a bit unsure about them being new as you could not buy these you part exchanged for repairs.

As some know, I worked at Goodmans and my time there co-incided with the selloff of all their NOS hi-fi speakers, all of which were Imagios, so I've heard every model they did.

The 100 range was the first and the IC120s were second from top of the range - the 130s were above and had an extra bass driver. Of the range I felt the 120s were the best balanced as treble output from the ICT wasn't vast and the twin bass drivers of the 130 can tend to swamp it a bit. That said, my father has a pair of 130s and loves them!

The 120s image superbly but can sound dull unless partnered carefully, but what they do well, they do very well indeed. The later 200 series added transmission lines to the low end and their bass was stunning. I had a pair of 258TLs and they were frustratingly close to being truly exceptional but their occasional dullness annoyed me from time to time and i changed them for something else. Mind, I still regret selling them...
