Yes, to some it might. Opinions here in the HFA office are divided.

Futuristic design, is it a pre-amp? looks expensive.

Hopefully these will be much better made than early Metaxas audio products, and yes I have first hand experience of them and their quirks back in the early 90s.

Certainly these look beautiful, proof of the pudding though will be listening, and that construction is sound.

I have just now finished interviewing him. Once I have edited it and sent it to him fto enable him to identify any factual inaccuracies and for me to correct them then we will publish it on hifianswers.com - hopefully on Friday this week.

The early Metaxas amps were striking and quite elegant in that form follows function mould. This stuff is OTT and unnecessary. Is this what it takes to stand out and sell these days?

I just spoke to him re your question and no, apparently it isn't. The catalyst for this design is informed by his other and non-audiophile activities and is part of my forthcoming interview with him.

He is a designer of jewellery (+ other media and art activity), these days and sells his work on shapeways, nice it looks too. http://www.shapeways.com/shops/metaxas

Howard,

That looks very sexy. Presumably priced solely for purchase by Greek Shipping Magnates? The manufacturing costs for the casing alone must be enormous.
