get your show report written first! I didn't get to see/hear as much of it as I'd have liked so I'll be interested to read about what you made of it as a show and as a venue.
before it fades from the memory... !

As a fellow newbie, relatively speaking, even though I appear on the list, I agree that this crude calculation is unfair. A much fairer way of doing it is to set a minimum no. of posts and, for those that exceed this number, rather than count the number of posts, calculate the average number of words per post - much fairer.
As Dave Cawley is apparently having a quiet day I volunteer him for the task - should keep him out of mischief for a while :lolsign: .

Assuming AoS has been around for no more than two years, this averages out to 14 posts a day!

Both of your post totals in the body of your posts are inaccurate according to the official count appearing in the top right hand corner of everybody's posts. This can only cause friction when a winner is declared :lolsign: .

H Chris,
In thanks for your support I've brought him back - actually he looks as though he could use some support - spare Spirella anyone? (Google that all you young 'uns !)
I suspect your count may not be fully accurate though, my own feeling is more than one, two or three max perhaps.
Anyway, in principle total counts should not include those made on 'Three Words ...' thread - that way I might get close to winning, but on the other hand, do I want to win? - hmmm.
Cheers,
Hamish is down the pub now, let's mug him. Get Posting!
Hamish is down the pub now, let's mug him. Get Posting!
Only problem with that plan is that he has an iPhone and he'll be constantly monitoring the chase. If we drag him out of the pub to defend his lead he'll be unbearable and post through the early hours until he drops through exhaustion.
Also don't say anything rude about him in his absence 'cos he'll read it - you just can't trust the little non-Scottish git to concentrate on his drinking when there's a prize at stake, can we Hamish? ;)
Hope this doesn't make you splutter into your beer - you know I don't mean it - on the other hand, if you're not monitoring the thread, then .......

Hamish old chap - download "ie-Spell," load it up and do as I say and use it, not as I do and forget...:) :) :)
I feel guilty for posting so often. i was taken the pee out of my a certain "Mark" for posting on so many threads there. Funny, I hardly visit there now - too much Naim talk and I've said it all so many times before (the same questions come up again and again and again...)
I'm on a measly 198 posts. Since I'm not allowed to post about religion or politics, and I've never modded a Beresford or rolled a tube, the dizzy heights of 1,000 posts are out of reach.
Have you rolled a joint, though? ;)

Well, here we are six months on & Hamish wanted to know how things have changed since Dave's original chart.
You'll see below I've compiled a new chart alongside the old one. The number of places that a person has moved up or down is in an extra column to the right. Forgive me if the post numbers are an hour or so old at the time of posting this.

So choose the chart rundown music or Top of the Pops Theme of your favourite era from the You Tube clips below.

Seriously, it's fantastic that we've got so much change going on on the Leader Board since last we looked. Loads of new entries, and taking into account '3 Words Daily' not a lot of 'noise' skewing the results. Top quality stuff.

:) Damn right, Chris. Maybe by next year we'll have figured out how to statistically measure the elbow-grease behind the scenes, and then the results could be weighted by that!
If you ever feel you're needing an 'auto-log-out' function to remind you when to take a break, let me know and I'll look into it ;)

I was also surprised at who some of the lower of the 50 were. There are one or two who you'd think would be higher than they really are, but they're obviously not as active as I thought.
On the other hand, I know Howard posted a lot while he was here, but I'm amazed he's still on the top 50 list (just) - he anounced his departure yonks ago. I see his hifi web site is active again.

It's quality that counts. Steve makes often longer and more detailed posts. I usually keep it in a couple of sentences...

I'm honoured that my thread has been reborn! And I'm still just in there! Pick Of The Pops was actually stared on the BBC Light Programme in 1955. Alan Freeman presented it mostly from 1962 until 1972, only 10 years but it has become iconic.
For some, this was the only way to hear real pop music as the BBC would not pay royalties and got a complete numbty Danny Street to produce barely recognisable cover version head all during the week. The Pirate Radio stations set up to get around this were not receivable in Cornwall where I lived.
Some of us, me included, recorded our favourites from Pick of the Pops on Fidelity reel to reel tape recorders. I used a crystal set with a long wire antenna and a 3 gang high Q preselector. Brilliant quality..............
Regards
Dave
Note to self.
Must get out more..
I thought my average posts per day would have dropped more than it has - and being joint highest climber shows I'm obviously not spending a bit less time like I thought I was! Andre's effort is supreme though in particular, as well as Dimitri - spectacular new entries!
The threads I really get stuck into are generally the ones where I end up with the threat of a ban!
This was great - you could choose your music! (Radio 1 1985 - I want it on vinyl!)
Sadly, I didn't chart:(

I just use my hours twice! For example, I'm posting this whilst having my morning poo... It's called "multi tasking" aparently, females invented it and we arnt suposed to be able to do it but I have discovered a few exeptions to the rule, and that when I post...
Hahaha, ya mucky pup... WAY too much info!
Multi-tasking, eh? Try posting when you're having your morning 'shuffle' - no on second thoughts, don't bother!!

Gin and tonic... Yum yum yum, slurp, makes Hamish a happy drunk!
The last time i had a major session on Gin with bitter lemon was in Ibiza circa 1985 in a night club, i was on my hands and knees trying to find the way out, i eventually did but could not remember what the girl i pulled looked like so decided to go back to the hotel alone, then found a mate sobered up a bit and then had a fight on the beach with a spanish bloke who took offence to my face when i could eventually walk properly again.
so i try to steer away from gin in volume nowdays

Quite a few interesting things pop out at you if you delve into this.
Lots of folks going up a few places. One or two going up a lot & a few big hitting new arrivals.
However, all this upward shuffling has obviously knocked a few off their perches. So it's toodle-ooh to:
alb,
symon &
Howard Popeck
Howard can be found elsewhere on the W's if you look hard enough (not too hard - he's only one click away from AoS at the moment). As for alb & symon, well I hope they won't make themselves strangers.
You may have noticed that it has changed to the Top 50 from the OP title of Top 20 Posters. It's not too tough to sort that out, but the data that takes the time to find is the figure for the number of posts per day. You'll see that I've been rummaging around in each of your profiles to find that. It wasn't too bad when it was a Top 20, but this list of 50 makes it a little time consuming. Next time I expect each of you to leave a little something for me to make the task more pleasant.
...................well, Santa gets a glass of brandy & a mince pie when he come visiting doesn't he?............Jeezus, even the reindeer get a carrot!

If your lunch break is unpayed as most peoples are then there isn't a lot they can do about it.
Also unless you signed a new employment contract which states that drinking is banned on lunch breaks & you accept the fact i'd simply ignore it as they don't have a leg to stand on :eyebrows:

I used to drink snakebites. Occaisonally with a Pernod and black dropped in for good measure.
However, since a certain experience I had one night involving far too much cider and Pernod  and the inability to extricate myself from the bath, I cannot go near either of those again.
i got very ill on cider when i was 16 at a party, i couldn't touch it for 20 years but i now enjoy the odd pint now and again, just mind over matter to get over that feeling of nausia i used to have if i went near it.

I was drinking round a friends one evening while we recorded what he'd produced from DAT to CD recorder & had a few drinks whilst doing it. Upon completion his flatmates other half who i knew quite well turned up & offered me some Tequila... I proceeded to sample various bottles as she & her boyfiend had just got back from a holiday in Mexico :) Upon being run home we happened to drop in on her other half who happened to work in a bar at a social club (Thomas cook) & he served me a double Tequila on the house  What happened after that i'm not quite sure, i think i must have gone back to the flat, though it's all kind of hazy. What i do know is that i eventually got escorted home & i was let through the front door by whoever transported me, they locked me in & posted the keys through the letterbox as i was kind of leaning against the door
The next day i woke up drunk, not hung over  I went into work & managed to electrocute myself at least 3 times with a 4.5KV flash tester. I think i got home at the end of the day & by that time i was getting the hangover bit :lolsign:

Superb dedication.
I used to brew my own cider, I used double sugar and yeast and finally decanted into bottles with a little bit more sugar. This produced a highly quaffable "light" tasting cider. Unfortunately, it was so quaffable, that 2 of us managed to drink 3 gallons of it in one night.:eek:

It's a little tedious and repetitive, but not nearly as bad as you'd think actually. There are ways to make a spreadsheet do most of the work. Trouble is, it's a moving target & you need to do it all in one hit & publish it asap otherwise the scores move on (some quicker than others!)
