I will shortly be listing a number of LPs for sale and wondered what is considered an acceptable cost for posting LPs in the UK? I'm not looking to make money out of P & P, just cover my costs. Is there an unwritten amount on AOS?

Cheers

Dave

Royal Mail small packet rate can send up to 2Kg of LPs for £2.80 - wot a bargin! :) - a single LP costs the same.

"Signed for" delivery would be a bit more. Not sure how much - less than £1 for sure.

Hah! - yes, Grant.

Weird coincidence -- this is part of a PM I sent to Barry about 20 minutes ago, he's bought a big box set of LPs off me ....

"LPs all packaged up and weighed on my kitchen scales .... just under 2Kg - whoopee - small packet rate - £2.80.
Took the package to my local PO, and on their scales just over 2Kg --- argh ---- that'll be £13-something, please.
No it won't - I'll split it into two and send tomorrow instead!"

Small packet costs:

http://www.royalmail.com/price-finder

Cost depends upon declared value, (watch this as they charge more to cover insurance whereas Special Delivery is up to £500 covered but its more expensive).

For value declared up to £20:

1st : £3.30........................signed for = £4.40

2nd: £2.80.........................signed for = £3.90

Once you go above 2Kg then courier is the best option.

eg UPS will send a package measuring 600 by 500 by 500mm weighing up to 25Kg for £11.90 next day delivery anywhere in the UK and collect from your home address so cheaper than the Royal Mail Special Delivery. I would recommend parcelbroker.co.uk for booking courier services.
