Hi chaps. i need 4 metres of decent interconnect wire to make up 4 x 1M XLR to RCA leads, does anyone know of a good source? not to expensive though!

Any info would be great thanks.

Belden 9272(?) and 8760 (or their heavier gauge versions) make excellent wires for XLR interconnects in v longer runs than 4m each...

Van Damme Pro Patch is thinner, more flexible and should also be ok in this application I think.

Balanced connections tend to be less of an issue than phono based "single ended" types I've found, so I doubt there's a huge benefit in spending shedloads on foo-priced balanced cables

Thanks Dave. These are effectivly going to be 'unbalanced' cables with an XLR at one end and an RCA at the other, wired thus...

I will keep an eye out for Belden cheers.

I make mine with the outer screen connected at one end only, usually the XLR end. When driving the ATC's with a phono output AVI preamp, I connected the screen at the phono end, but left the screen disconnected at the XLR, as despite the ATC's having a -ve signal resistor to "ground" to minimise earth loops, I "imagined" it sounded better to me done "my" way....

I've had good results using this (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=132) cable for interconnects.

I made up my I/C cables in pseudo balanced topology - ie. screen connected at source end only.

I also used these (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=1006) phono plugs.

Cost per stereo pair works out at around £ 12.00 , which I don't think is too bad.
