I'm based in Devon, Torquay. In the St Marychurch area.

Any other members here who are based locally, or close to me?

Just curious :)

I know about your neck of the woods Frank. I hear they're modernising by replacing the mud tracks with roads here and there though. ;)

There is a custom that a virgin needs to bless new roads before anyone can them. Hence we still have only mud tracks

Is that why Jesus wasn't born there. They couldn't find three wise men and a virgin?

I haven't seen any of those in sunny Exeter, perhaps I'm not looking hard enough!

Funny you should say that, but nearly every time I pass Exeter on the A30 it's raining. Must be blowing in from the moors. :)

Harrowbarrow, now that is a place I only ever heard of from my Aunt (dad's sister) with whom we spent our summer holidays away from the smoke of London. This was the 60's and we holidayed there when I was about 7 or 8 up until I was probably 11 or 12. Her and her husband lived in a timber shack in Downgate where he looked after chickens owned by (I think) the man who owned the Dingles dept store who lived across the road. Kit Hill was across the road from us.

Used to take us about 10 hours to get from London in dad's old 3 speed Ford Prefect and we had to "will" it to get up Gunnislake, which it only just about made to the top. Happy days.

I recognise that. It's the A30 from Hayle to Penzance. :D
