There is somewhere on here a 'Sticky' or other instructions giving easy details of how to post pics - that's how I learned to do it and if I can follow them anyone can ;) . Unfortunately I can't find the link now I want it, sorry!

DAVE C. AND CHRIS

Thanks for your assistance, but 'er indoors and I have been through all that and more; even got to posting on Photobucket, but that's where the road runs out. I think we'll have to wait until someone actually shows us. And you think you're a digital duffer? Marco

Hi Mike,

First of all, do you have pictures saved to either 'My Pictures' or 'My Documents' on your hard-drive? :)

If you don't then get whatever images you want to post, saved. If you already have some saved, then click here: http://imageshack.us/

You'll then be on the Imageshack homepage. You don't need to sign-up to use it.

1) Click on the grey coloured tab marked "Browse"; this will cause a pop-up window to appear containing all your images saved in 'My Pictures' on your hard-drive. You will also see a drop-down menu where you can access any images you've saved into 'My Documents'.

2) Simply click on the image you wish to upload in the pop-up window and its file name will appear in front of you. Then click on 'Open'.

You will then see the file name of the image you wish to upload appear in the box on the Imageshack screen.

3) What you then need to do is make sure the 'Upload Images/Videos' box is ticked at the top, not the 'URL' one, and then tick the 'Resize Image' box and select the option '640 x 480 for message boards' from the drop-down window on the right. Then tick the 'remove size/resolution bar from the thumbnail' box underneath.

Then click on 'Start Upload'...

The uploading process will then begin and you'll see an progress indicator bar appear at the top of the screen. Allow it to finish the process - it will take a couple of minutes. Once done, you will be presented by a screen showing pictures of the image you wish to upload.

4) Go over to the right-hand side of the screen and look for the heading 'Get Links and Codes for All Images'. Then select ‘BB Codes’ from the drop-down menu and simply copy and paste the first code at the top (from ‘URL’ to ‘URL’) and paste it into the posting box on the forum, and your chosen image should appear thus (which is then clickable to enlarge, if wanted):

Thanks for the step-by-step info., but I think we're falling down on the 'copy & paste' bit, as our piccies have been on Photobucket for months, as I intimated in my post.

The paintings were by one of my brothers. The crucifiction is a deceptive one, not biblical in nature, British scenery, telegraph poles in the background, and I'm tied on using electrical cable. I told him the nails were in the wrong place as well:lolsign:
He currently has a painting on exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery.

MARCO, your instructions were indeed simple; just not as simple as I am ! Anyway, other brains have been busy, so here goes.

If this works, it'll be even simpler than I am, and I'll have to practise with hifi piccies.

Thanks again.

Mike - as soon as I saw your pic I thought I recognised you, then noticed you are from Norwich which was my stomping ground until a few years ago. Having peeked at your profile that doesn't really help, 'cos I doubt you'd be old enough to have been a teacher I would have known, so not sure where I (think) I recognise you from - unless you've just got one of "those" faces - no offence intended! ;)

ALEX, I'm afraid I probably am old enough to have been one of your teachers; however, I kind of retired to Norwich eight years ago, having done my time in and around Thanet, Kent in the seventies and eighties.

Yup, Orkney is awesome for Brochs... In fact, it's awesome, full-stop, if you love beautiful scenery, fresh air and tranquillity, (count me in!) Life is also beautifully slow-paced and 'real', rather like it is in rural North Wales.

Orkney also has wonderful serenity and 'honesty' - a veritable land where time forgot, almost completely devoid of the ravages of commercialism, and totally divorced from the rat race of modern life. I love it.

Oh, and the seafood restaurants (and whisky) are to die for! :)

Congratulations Hamish! I knew you were thinking about it, but didn't realise fatherhood was impending! (Apologies if I missed the announcement elsewhere?) Do you really know what you've done? :eyebrows: (This weekend, my PS3 has been killed, and when I took the covers off my speakers to play some music earlier one of the bass units has been doofed in - AGAIN! :steam:) Seriously, though - you cannot imagine how it will change your life - mostly for the better - (hifi and electronics excluded! Oh, and of course money. And freedom...) I'm not ashamed to admit I was an emotional blubbering wreck for the first two weeks when Avatar arrived, and even now I just look and go wow - she's my little girl! All the best for the pregnancy, and one thing I would say is don't get too hung up on the birth, which is what all the ante-natal classes will concentrate on - believe you me, the birth will be the least of your worries! ;)

And now we know why you've given up the fags!

Anyway, sorry for the thread drift - here's a more recent one of me (slightly slimmer than post #115 above!) and the family -

Alex, I feel for you buddy. My ATC tweeters took a couple of poundings in himself's early days and we nearly lost him, together with total trashing of a B&O telly and rather excellent Panasonic video machine when they were all but swiped off the cabinet they were sat on, but he's been pretty good on the whole (we now have the hormones kicking in with all the defiance and "teenage-attitude" to deal with - the great little man-cub we had is now hidden for a few years).

After two false starts, which were very stressful, I was invited in once the first scan looked positive. To see this little pin-point beating/flashing on the screen was a huge point in my life. We had fortnightly scans from then on, just to be sure, up to 15 weeks, and to see this little dot grow into something properly resembling a little human was humbling in the extreme. Argumentative little so and so at the moment though, but I love him more than life :)

Ours was "prawn" for ages, then after the first scan my Missus said "it's got your chops" (we didn't find out the sex, so she was an "it" until birth) - so Chops became her nickname, and it has stuck - we still call her Chops more than anything else, the poor little thing! (And I'm Mr Chops and Mummy is Mrs Chops!) Fingers crossed for you Hamish - I'm sorry to tell you that the shitting yourself for the safety and survival is unlikely ever to stop - certainly hasn't for me for the last 3 years and I doubt it ever will! Does that to you, doesn't it? When my wife was first pregnant I became incredibly protective and almost a survivalist - I was hiding improvised weapons and torches around the house, planning escape routes whenever we stayed anywhere like a hotel - the Missus got quite worried about me at one stage! Nature's way, I guess - the paternal instinct certainly took me by surprise though!

The blu rays i'm sure will be stunning :)

I can certainly get a list together for you Dave. Quite a few may well have been recorded from a TV broadcast onto a DVD recorder with HDD & then edited & burnt to DVD on a computer. The pictures are still top notch though & widescreen recorded from freeview..

I'm sure you'd be interested more in original films though & as it happens i haven't taken any down the local secondhand shop yet :)

Interesting. I heard him say once the only directors cut worth getting is Kingdom of Heaven and he was embaressed by the original

All of the background has been gutted, at least an hour and a half at the beginning, all the Christian 'fundamentalist' activity has been cut, all that's left in the original is effectively the battle scenes and some stilted dialog...

A good example...Watching the original, one might be forgiven for thinking that the blacksmith Baileon gains some kind of superhuman powers out of thin air...in the full version we learn that he's an experienced technical advisor, engineer, and soldier, who was having a break to look after his missus during childbirth, smithing is bit of a backup job. When the baby dies and she subsequently commits suicide he looses it and is banged up in the local cells. The Crusaders do not just happen by, they are specifically looking for him based on reputation, his brother the priest (this is a bit skipped over in the original) tries to convince him to go with them, attempting to sell his skills to the Crusaders...etc...etc...etc.

OK it doesn't make Orlando Bloom a better actor, but you at least feel his character is somewhat more believable.

It's worth a go, just to make sense of the original, he rarely makes a poor film IMHO :)

Must have been one for the ladies shall we say, not quite my idea of a warmongering Norman Crusader, more a renaissance hairdresser...still he's even worse in Troy, now there's a shite historical film!!!
