Anyone had ago at modding a C.A. Dacmagic?

I am thinking of buying one and doing a bit of tweaking. I would be interested in any mods tried and what you thought/found.

Regards

Chris

Hi Chris

For the DacMagic 09 I recommend that you replace the digital & analogue power supply reservoir capacitors with Panasonic FC. Replace the NE5534 op-amps for current-to-voltage conversion with LME49710. The NE5534 are surface mount type so do not remove these unless you have experience with SMD soldering. If you replace the 5534’s you need to upgrade the +/- analogue supply bypass capacitors at the same time to get the balance of sound right; use OS-CON type here. Also, replace the logic and clock capacitors with OS-CON. The 7805 regulator for the DAC should be replaced with a discrete, low noise, wide bandwidth type.

All this results in a very notable improvement to the sound!

Mark
