A friend wanted to ship some Lore-S's over and after shipping and customs, the price all but doubled, putting him off :( So sad, since the drivers used appear to have excellent performance, the tweeter just bolstering up the very high treble and the other (Eminence?) driver doing almost all the rest with perfectly acceptable dispersion apparently.

Yes, I myself got a quote from Decware to import a pair of their MG944's to the UK. As you say the price all but doubles. The Americans certainly have a far bigger choice of high sensitivity speaker that are reasonably priced.
