my cat sits here quite often when i have music on, guess he likes the vibes
i guess i can never claim the old "from a pet free smoke free house"... i smoke too

i used to put bricks on top of my first pair of speakers, i guess cat doesnt have the same dampening properties

yeah if anyone wants me to take another 6 maybe 7 photos of the tuner im more than willing!!...

my speakers have actually been damaged by the cats, the grils are all torns where they try an sharpen thier claws on them, at one point they managed to separate the grill from the wooden frame!! i went mental..... you know that saying about room to swing a cat...

Hehe...I have two scratcing posts and so my cat doesn't damage anything. "Room to swing a cat" is an old nautical saying relating to there not being enough room below deck to swing a "cat" more specifically a "cat o'nine tails" or whip.
"the cat is out of the bag" also relates to the bag in which this whop was kept, and that once it is taken out of the bag, the punishment must be carried out...

yeah i had heard that... i find etymology of words and phrases fasinating

i quite like the idea of cats and dogs being washed from the roofs of houses during heavy rain, hence, "its raining cats and dogs"

although i understand there to be a few more slightly more plauseable origins of the phrase, that one conjours a quite fantastic mental image! specaly knowing how much my cats and even my dog hate the rain!!

I soon sorted my two out when I had the big ATC's, a quick deafening blast got them scooting off, never to touch the grilles again.

The next time Titch-puss came to visit, he glared at the ATC's and stalked snootily to his favourite chair. Once he and his more timid mate Ollie-Dumplin' (you have to have a tummy in this household :)) became my responsibilty, they both left the HiFi well alone.

They're both gone now and SWMBO has decreed no more pets. I'm bereft, although next-doors young puss comes to say hello most days which keeps me going..

I like pussies, me :D

Just been round to a friend who picked up a mint Sansui tuner from his local cash converters for 25 quid.Got to be the bargain of the month! Looks like it just came out of the box.

ESL63's

I wonder what cats think these might be, well I know the answer.

Two new cloth socks were required.

I was not happy.

Would the cat not go:

"Meouch!"

or perhaps just:

"Meo__" thud!

Good enough.

Perhaps if the cat got the HF section it may go:

Tweet____ thud!

My poor sense of humour!

I think if any cat were to sink its claws into my electrostatic speakers I might go 'Ugh! -Thud' from a heart attack.

Actually when we did have a couple of cats, they showed no interest at all in the speakers. The expanded aluminum mesh grills would however have been proof against their claws.

Our cat was kept out of the room where the Quad ESL63's are, at least all the time except for the one error.

We had kept the 63's immaculate, "heart attack" was what I felt like on discovery.

The cat may have had a go at the 57's, but no cloth sock on them, no damage noticed.
