Hi folks, just acquired a lovely Audiolab 8000 system comprising of a pair of 8000M 125 watt monoblocs, an 8000q pre amp, 8000ppa phono stage and an 8000CDM transport mated to an 8000DAC. It's all in perfect working order, excellent to immaculate condition and complete with original packaging and remotes where appropriate. I always liked Audiolab stuff especially the monoblocks but then they hiked the price to almost twice what it used to be and I fell out with them.

I believe it is the British made stuff, the paperwork only gives Cambridge Systems Technology with no mention of IAG. I don't know the date of purchase to state categorically. I also don't know of any fool proof way of telling, so if anybody out there knows for sure how to tell I will report back.

The serial number gives a clue to UK or China made.

As far as I know if the serial number has 'A' to 'F' it is a UK product.

'G' is China I think.

link to a picture on audioaffair that shows a G serial number:

As example of a pair of UK 8000M sold on ebay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audiolab-8000M-Monoblocs-pair-British-made-pre-Tag-McLaren-/121010442326

If the pair of 8000M are UK that's a good price for £ 695.00 :)

Thanks for that info Mark.
All my stuff has "E" serial numbers so it is British made stuff.
