What an amazing boxset. All the Pink Floyd albums with replicas of the album covers, down to the last detail. So Dark Side has the poster and card inserts, and Wish You Were Here comes wrapped in black plastic! Genius!

Expensive, but well worth it just for the joy of opening the box and seeing that black plastic cover.
And for those of you in Bristol, Zavvi are selling it at 25% off. Still godawful expensive, but it works out at least than a tenner an album. And it's such a delicious item (yes, Nick, I am thinking of you here!)

I suppose I could easily have titled this thread as Zavvi is making me poor

At least you have Zavvi still the last shop closed here in Northern Ireland a few weeks ago.... I missed the last few days, but there did not appear to have been any further reductions. In the last few weeks here Zavvi had 50% of all Vinyl I picked up a few bits but there was very little of interest.

We are now down to HMV and their prices are going up...and no VAT reductions anymore either. :(

I really have no choice these days but to use Amazon and the like and I don't want to.

Zavvi and their sales have sucked a huge amount of money from me over the last couple of months. It began with vinyl, then I kept going back to get more CDs and Boxsets. Getting the Floyd box was the last bit. I'm going to have to ban myself from going in there.

Hi aquapiranha

Well you would be more than welcome....and if you did it might be nice to meet up at some point.

There are CD/vinyl shops here but they are getting less than they used to be. HMV is the only major player here now and the number of independents is dwindling. In Belfast there are only are only a handful of independents now. Good vibrations is back in business with the legendary Terry Hooley back (I used to work for him once during the summer...what a character...he was behind the Undertones, Outcasts, Rudi and many other NI bands.). There is also BackBeat run by a guy called Paddy who used to work for Terry...and that is about it, in Belfast.

Its sad the number of great guys who are now lost to music retailing.....Angus and Hector two name but two...I miss these guys a lot. Hector who ran Hectors House still does music fairs but that not the same as a shop.

There are shops dotted about the country but I would have to look to giver you a list. The above is about Belfast. There are Folk music shops too but as I am not into folk I don't go into them.

 Thanks for the tip Peter. I must admit to having most of the Floyd albums on CD at least 3 times over - including the cute Japanese 'mini-LP reproduction CD' versions - WYWH comes sealed in that. As far as vinyl releases are concerned I'm a little choosy :) There are so many good vinyl releases internationally, and I'm slowly working through to find the best for each release - for the early albums at least. I'm not so fanatical post-Dark Side. Fun but expensive ;)

Thanks for the info Neil. It sounds lika good job I like folk then! but not just the celtic sort.... I will take you up on the offer if I manage to get over there, but the promise of a big dedicated room for the hifi is proving harder to resist! .... :eyebrows:
