Just set up my SB Touch with the EDO mod, which enables USB output into your Dac.
I had assumed the Caiman could handle 24/96 via its USB but I'm unable to play them....silence, no output.

Could be a squeezebox thing, but I just wanted to rule the Dac side of things out if I can.

ta. :)

No it can't - 16bit and 44.1khz max on usb I think - one of the reasons I went for a hiface to convert usb to spdif.

I have a HiFace2, and it's quite happy converting 24/192 from the EDOed Touch USB to SPDIF at 24/192.
Caiman can't play it, but that's another thing altogether.
My M2Tech EVO DAC is quite happy playing the 24/192.

Is there plan for future USB section upgrade?

Where?
Squeezebox Touch is now end of line, and the Caiman has been superseded by the Bushmaster.

Its the limitation of the PCM receiver chip @48Khz not USB itself.

Bushmaster and caiman are two different product line. Sure they are product, one is USB based and the other not.

I did read on this forum that there was work taking place on caiman USB, the issue I believe was that the software was having issues.

I am sure caiman still has a lot more upgrade potential left in it.
