There's only one 'hi-fi chair' I'd ever consider... It's gotta be Eames:

I'd only consider it if it had one of those built in sub-woofer thunder vibrators.

But that's just me

Marco you have exceptional taste with listening chairs. Have tried to convince Mrs for years that I really really need one and I need it bad. Unfortunately the jury is still out there..

You mean like this... my listening chair and most prized ebay find. Not an original but at the price I paid who cares.....

Cheers mate, i'd lusted after one of these chairs for years and even went into a pricey furniture store round here to try em out for size... there was no way I could pay £1250 for one so i scoured that auction site for years. They were all buyer collects from down south then one day i found one not too far away and made him a daft offer of £230quid. He just wanted rid and so we settled for that... re the 'am i allowed to have this' thread, well this one was a definate no and i still came home with it... now we wouldnt be without;)

Very nice Objects D'art but for me personally I find them way too low down?
Agreed very comfortable, and desirable, but an absolute swine to get out of as you get older :-)
And for those who like absolute precision in their imaging, next time your sat in one try keeping your head fixed in one position ;-)
All that effort put into precise positioning and you go move your heard nearly 12" at a time while relaxing. :D

Hmm.
Yep, the large "headrest" part of a chair definitely screws up the imaging if your head is resting against it.
For best imaging my head needs to be a few inches away, with me sitting more upright.

Lol... True, but you guys are missing the point. Apart from the style factor of the Eames, who here sits rigidly in the optimum sonic 'sweet spot' when listening to music on their system, and doesn't move from that position? I certainly don't!

Relaxation and comfort come first and foremost, so I lie down on my sofa and CHILLAX, reading a book or magazine, or simply close my eyes and let the music just wash over me... I couldn't give a fook about being in the 'optimal' position or not. The only time I sit upright is when I have friends round, and need to make more room on the sofa!

Either that or I'm up and about doing other things (such as working from home) when the music is playing, but I never allow where I listen to music to be dictated by where the 'sweet spot' for best sound quality is. That's a bit nerdy and unnatural for me, and best reserved for when attending hi-fi shows... I simply position myself where I'm most comfortable, according to what I'm doing (or not) at the time.

As for getting in and out of a chair like that, thankfully I'm still young and able enough for that not to be a problem, therefore I could quite easily imagine being sprawled back on the Eames, in total comfort, listening to my favourite tunes, with a nice bottle of claret at my side :)

Hi-Fi Chair !?! You ponsey buggers! When I'm listening to music I have to give it my full attention and what I'm sitting on is pretty irrelevant. But that's just me.

Kind Regards,
Stephen

Sadly and somewhat anally I do . My hifi is set up for one sweet spot and the precise positon my head needs to be , is marked on the couch. I listen always , sat up , eyes closed , glass of red wine.

I dont listen lying down or when doing anything else , it as just occurred to me this is wierd
