I've just run a news story on a new range of idler drive turntables coming out of Holland. Basically the guy starts with a Lenco drive system and integrates it into a new design. company is PTP. Thought this would interest a few here.

Mods remove if you think necessary!

This is the work and passion of Peter Reinders, who is a respected Lenco modifier. He builds his plinths from Corian, a tradename for a polymer of acrylic and aluminium oxides.
Discussion a-plenty over at Lenco Heaven.
Some Lencophiles have swapped slate for Corian, having swapped wood for slate. It's all good clean fun.

Put the needle on the record.

Highly interesting as I recently picked up a new toy of eBay; a KD-550 which features a Corian plinth as standard. Its in bits at the moment as I'm giving it a thorough service and check over....

I suggest that the plinths of the KD-5xx to KD-7xx are not exactly the same composite as the DuPont branded mix but I take your point. Enjoy your Kenwood, I'm chuffed with mine.

i believe Peter has suffered some unsavoury people who quite blatantly copied his top plate, it gave him the urge to create his own unique deck .

There are some of us that still like ply plinths ;-)
