Had a new bearing installed in my 401 a few weeks ago, along with the wand tone-arm, now that the wand has gone to another reviewer and I put my original arm back on I can tell that the bearing played a massive part in the improved sound I was hearing, a must have up-grade IMO for all 401 owners.
Will take some pictures when its daylight tomorrow, suffice to say I am extremely happy with it. I knew there were not many ways to improve this already stupendous turntable, I have the slate plinth which I thought was all I needed, the bearing takes it to an entirely different level. I cannot see myself ever needing another vinyl spinner in my life-time thanks to this latest tweak.
