They taste very nice but the meat is tough like rubber. Needs to be cooked in whole papaya leaves for about 15 minutes first, before tender. Serve with casava bread and a bowl of casierie.
Recipe from my days growing up in the Amazon jungle :D.

There aren't any natural predators in the UK that would reduce those numbers, so the problem will get worse.

I much prefer them to pigeons though...

Pigeons don't make a lot of noise, they just shite all over the place

So I guess that both of them deserve to be eaten at the end of the day, might knock the population down some to as they appear to have bred from birds escaped from private owners (the parrots/parakeets whatever :eyebrows:).

Lessons in cooking on Stan I reckon, he appears to know his onions & parrots

When I was a kid me and the other kids of between 6 to about 10 used to do a lot of hunting and bush cooking. There wasn't much else to do as kids in those days. Curry pigeon with wild rice went down well. I also liked Guinea fowl with rice, which I have ended up cooking these days after discovering that Sainsbury's now sells Guinea fowl. The meat is far stronger in flavour than chicken, and is highly enjoyable with fresh hot pepper added to the curry.

Plenty of parakeets here in Kew our 12 chickens and 2 ducks drown out there noise though as do the aircraft.

They are not as noisy as Magpies- we had a battle royal the other morning, mass battle between Crows and Magpies, awful din, l think the Crows went after a young Magpie, and then the Magpies mobbed up.

I saw a Jackdaw and a Sea-gull having it out a while ago. The Jackdaw hopped up to it and just took a massive lump of feathers out of it, the Seagull didn't know what to do lol.

There are absolutely loads of them around West and North West London. I first noticed them in Holland Park a few years ago and see them all the time near mine in Kensal Rise. On one occasion I saw around 70 in a flock flying around the local area.

Their numbers have been steadily increasing over the years.
