Just wondering if anyone had a view on a suitable push-pull integrated amp for Tannoy 15in Monitor Golds?

Preference is at least 18-20w, budget £2k (used).

Thanks for the suggestion Dave, not sure about hybrid but could be worth exploring. I do like my glowing bottles!

Has glowing bottles inside, sounds like tube but with more grip and punch than the usual low powered tube amps.

Amptastic Mini-T.

I tried one with 10 inch Tannoy Monitor Golds in Lancaster cabs at last years Scalford Show - it sounded fab! :D

You'll get a bit of change from £2k as well. ;)

The new Audio Note OTO fitted with C cores, might be over your budget though, don't worry that it's a SE it's very good especially with Tannoys

Interesting I was pointed in this direction last night .... £4200 though and not old enough to be second hand.

I'm going to be yet again accused of shilling hifi dave (so be warned in advance), but the Puresound integrated should be high up there, together with the well presented Icon Audio amps, which I haven't yet heard, but apparently are superbly presented. Both these ranges are available from a small but dedicated dealer network, so worth looking out for methinks :)

I use one of these: http://shop.grantfidelity.com/Grant-Fidelity-W-30-Integrated-All-in-one-Tube-Amp-w-Phono.html. I'm not sure how much duty/VAT and shipping would push it over your budget though, and its 40wpc may seem a bit more than you need, but if you like a variety of the glowing bottles it very much fits the bill. Mine now has Mullard ECC88s at the front end and GE 6550A power valves (the original Treasure KT88s had an "accident" and cost me a few quid in repairs). I find the built-in DAC is pretty good as is, but I'm using a Tom Evans Microgroove phono stage, though the 12AX7/ECC83 valve stage is not bad on its own (just that it's MM only).

I'm currently driving stock Cheviots with it, and have driven stock Ardens.

If you could find one, a original design (interstage phase splitter) WAD 300b PP would be ideal.

Hi Tom, as you know I'm using the Croft 25 + 7R+ but the integrated sound like a superb choice. My 7R amp is a special upgraded lower powered version which I find suits the Tannoys no end. You are welcome to come over for a listen.

I would love to try a 300b as Nick suggests though but I need enclosed child friendly gear for the next xx years.

The standard 7 integrated can let you know in no uncertain terms if it's being pushed too hard, something you'd NEVER do with big Tannoys unless you wanted to give yourself severe ear damage...

I have now heard the £1K Icon integrated (Stereo 25?) and it's like the smoothest silk. Not at all stodgy, but not assertive either and reminded me of the now insanely priced (in the UK) EAR 599 :) Nicely and solidly made too.

Have you posted pics yet of your Lockwoods, Joe? If so, I've missed them! :)
