Need to get 2 HiCaps working into an 82 again please
All ideas welcome
Putting the 82, Napsc and 2 HiCaps back together at home after a successful visit to David at Radlett Audio to sort my previous cartridge problem there was no sound.
Swapped leads around, checked manual, turned off and on, checked everything.
All lights on, no one home
Puzzled, checked again all in the right place and secure
Ok if 2 won't work how about 1 HiCap ?
HiCap 2 disconnected and blanking plate in place on the 82- yes ! Success.
Why won't the 2nd HiCap work ?
Try lead from 2nd HiCap on the 1st into the 82, faint sound, odd but great, must be a dodgy cable
Try another spare lead I have to go between HiCap 2 into 82 and swap the feed to the 82 - great, works !
Now it goes weird
Reconnect both HiCaps with the new, replaced HiCap2-82 lead. No sound - Uh ?
Swap various things around and for a time I have no sound even with the original lead from HiCap 1 into the 82.
I'm used to computers doing silly things so I play around some more and sound is back.
Try 2 HiCaps again - no sound - except sometimes a very faint signal coming through that is not affected by volume of balance controls
I reckon this is some sort of very odd intermittent fault
I'd like to sort it myself if I can
Any clues please ?
