You know the deal by now; anyone used this? Can you tell me what you think of it, is it worth the money?

My own view and I have used to use this years ago is it over priced treatment. I think I still have half a bottle left somewhere

It's another one of those none conductive, conductivity improving creams. You might be better off just polishing your sockets and looking for a compound that is proven to reduce connection resistance.

Typical foo product that preys on your audiophile paranoia. Yes I have some, no I couldn't find any differences, yes it's a bugger to clean off when you clean your plugs.

Tweek (around in the 90s) seemed to do a better job.

I use Deoxit to clean my contacts and it works very well! I treat all my connectors with this stuff and it makes a massive difference and I wholeheartedly recommend it to you.

Yeah I've heard good things about that stuff.

Hypothetically, if you had brand new stuff, would it make it better than it in a purely virgin state? Or is it only good when contacts need some tlc?

Well, they do a contact conditioner for new contacts called Deoxit Gold. I used them on all my new cables, including my Mark Grant cables. Back in the days when I had SCART cables for my TV, a shot of deoxit made a huge difference. Sound opened up on my older phono cables as well

Is this something that needs to be renewed, or is it a single application until you next move things about?

I'm not sure, the be perfectly honest. I will probably clean the connectors every couple of years or so, if only because I pull all my kit out and dust and clean it. I simply include it as part of the maintenance routine.

brasso works well, as does blue horizon clean it, also de-oxit make wipes which costs a quid and are quite useful too

I have an ultra sonic cleaning machine, I took a couple of furutech plugs apart last week that had been used for quite a while, I put gold jewellery cleaning liquid in the cleaner, put the plug pins in and switched on, the liquid after cleaning was dark brown and the crud in the bottom of the machine was un-believable, just proves that cleaning plugs and connectors has sonic benefits if all that crap is on the plug pins

I used the spray, because I found it more convenient, and found it penetrated further into the connector. Messy though.
