Hi Stuart,

Which AN speakers ?

I´ve heard the Zero monos on AN-J. I feel they are slightly thinner sounding than other AN gear. My opinion is that AN gear is generally not the most full tube sound around, the ZERO series being slightly more in this direction and more analytic.

Thanks mikkel.

They are AN/e's.
Just trying to find out what amps will make for a great combo on a budget.

E´s are great !

What sound are you after ? What kind of music do you enjoy ?

Real mixture of music from jazz to indie to zappa.
Not to detailed and if anything slightly on the warmer side.
But with with punch and dynamics and a full sound.

The 5881 mono blocks i'am trying are very thin sounding with them but worked very well with some old 15" tannoys.

Oh dear...

Sounds like me :D

We share taste in both sound and music it appears. What kind of budget are you looking to spend on new amps ? Given that the E´s are quite sensisitive, some of Glenns older amps might fit the bill nicely.

Thinking a 5 (or V) series, not the 4 as it´s also on the thin side.

About £600 unfortunately.

Well, not that bad I´d say - spending more is too easy :eyebrows:

With the budget at hand, I´d definetely look into one of Glenns designs.

I´m using one if these with my Harbeths, a really nice amp.

Build some 300b amps with Edcor transformers.

I would not spend the money on ANE's I have heard the ones with inboard cross overs, there good but in my opinion they are just to expensive.
Give these a shot.

For amps I would think about Manley Labs.

This would be a very good description of my M-Zero pre - love it.

Bit late as i already have the AN/es.
Cheers anyway.

I have a nice pre so it's just the power amp/s to sort out.
