I just thought you guys should know that I've worked out what the mystery hi-fi photos on the new banner are. So I must be the winner of the first prize in the competition that you don't seem to have anounced just yet.
BY THE WAY, WHAT WAS THE PRIZE AGAIN?

1) The guy dressed in red on the sledge is telling us that the most subscribed thread on the Art of Sound should be changed for 2009 to 'Five Words Daily'

2) The white guy with a carrot for a nose used to have a body, but he sat too close to his new Western Electric 300B spiked stylus gauge and melted just a teensy little bit, despite having already been a pioneer in whole-body cryogenic treatment

3) Only a fool would not know that the picture just to the right of centre (that looks vaguely like a snowman in a hat and scarf) is an early prototype of one of those B&W Blue Room speakers (but they had to disguise it in case those little tinkers from Monitor Audio spotted it before it went on sale).

4)The other guy dressed in red is reading a list of names on a petition from Art of Sound members to get Marco to stop turning every post into a discussion about his bleedin' turntable.

5) All the bells scattered about are the alarm bells that ring every time anyone on Art of Sound mentions any turntable / tonearm / cartridge that's different from Marco's, because we all know that soon there'll be an update on what Marco thinks of his turntable.

6) The leaves are a representation of how prickly Marco will get with me before he realises I'm just pissing about.

The tree and the baubles?????.....well that's just a load of Christmassy shit isn't it??

SO, WHEN DO I GET MY PRIZE??

You'll have to ask Marco.

Nicely.

Marco

Hehehehe... Love it, TGW!

What prize would you like? The choice is:

1) A swift boot up the botty.

2) A 'music book' inserted into the orifice of your choice.

3) A pair of Steve's special pish catchers in 'Rudolph red' (they play 'Jingle Bells', too, when you walk).

Marco.

P.S Did I mention I liked my turntable?

Most generous, Marco.

Mike

Brilliant! :D

I award TGW one rather crap Golden Dragon ECC83. Boxed.

I also award Marco one 'Fisher Price - My First Record Player' as an upgrade to his crappy little Technics, so he can stop babbling on about it.! ;)

Marco
07-12-2008, 11:42
As they say in Glesga, "Pick yer windae!" :eyebrows:

Marco.

P.S Btw, have you heard of the 1210?

Mike

A what?

I'll translate......
Pick a window, you're leaving

Mike
07-12-2008, 12:00
No translation needed. ;)

Marco
07-12-2008, 12:02
Hehe...that's pretty close. It means: "pick which window you want to go through", also commonly expressed as "taking a heider oot the windae" :eyebrows:

Marco.

Steve Toy

That does not mean that GW has been shown the door.

Marco
07-12-2008, 12:29
Far from it!

Do you remember though whom I told that I'd arrange for them to take a heider oot the windae and he thought I meant it? :eyebrows: ;)

Marco.

Mike
07-12-2008, 12:31
No, I think Marco was referring to me.

Maybe the Fisher Price thing was a step too far?

After all, Marco wouldn't want to go too high on the upgrade ladder would he! :eyebrows:

Marco
07-12-2008, 12:59
Hey, at least I've got a turntable that bloody works!!

:eyebrows:  :D   :lolsign: :ner: :upyours:

Marco.

Mike

Oi.... mine works too!

Err... just not as well as I'd like it to.

Marco
07-12-2008, 15:36
Perhaps a Fisher Price will work better then? :eyebrows:

;)

Well I woke up this morning, hardly aware of the unbridled joy & delight awaiting me!

I suppose even I can't deny any longer that Christmas is going to happen again this year. I just wish I didn't have to see it till, oh maybe 4 o'clock in the afternoon of Christmas Eve!! (I spent 11 of my Decembers selling Chrimbo trees - not a pleasant experience).

Anyway, I thought as so many new members have joined since last year, they may not know the fun & jollity we all had last year, & perhaps they ought to read this thread to find out the true meaning of all the Christmas symbolism shown in the Christmas banner.

..............so this is by way of a little light bumping!

And now I realise that Mike never presented me with my prize of a rather crap valve - or is it still away having my name engraved on it?

I presume that even though Marco finished putting the power supply & bearing tweaks on his new FP turntable in March, that we're never going to see that write up either!

Marco

It's the thought that counts! ;)

But then decided http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/6926/sign0008.gif (http://img32.imageshack.us/i/sign0008.gif/)

It's still wrapped up and ready to go... but you need to win again this year to get the postage! :eyebrows:

I'm just glad to see that we haven't gone for any of the usual Xmas iconography and done something totally inspired (no doubt by an angle from above high) instead.;)

I'll get my coat!

Hang on. I've spoken with Marco a couple of times on the phone and he never mentioned a turntable. He kept going on about a 1210 though. I just thought he had a train to catch! :)

Marco

You've got some of them, too, Alex - they've been added to the list (see message on Noticeboard)! :)

Some, however, are stored in my 'Private Collection'.......
