Offers please, chaps, on the folllowing items!

Due to the recent purchase of a new Jelco tonearm from Sound Hi-Fi (shown here: http://www.soundhifi.com/jelco.html), my KAB-modified MK5G Technics arm is now up for sale (complete tonearm with titanium armtube terminated in a gold plated KAB phono junction box). Those of you who run KAB 1210s know how good this arm is when Cardas rewired and fluid damped. Also included is the 'Thrunobulaxx special' brass counterweight balance, which was fitted to the arm *Counterweight balance NOW SOLD*. Everything is in immaculate condition.

Here are the current new prices for reference:

http://www.kabusa.com/frameset.htm?/index.htm - Cardas tonearm rewire - £110 ($169.00). Tonearm fluid damper - £96 ($149.00) *DAMPER NOW SOLD*

ANY REASONABLE OFFERS CONSIDERED! *FULL TONEARM NOW SOLD*

(I was thinking along the lines of £150 for the full arm including the modifications above). Fluid damper can be bought separately, but obviously not the tonearm rewire.

Also, since buying the Jelco arm and employing a different mat set-up (due to VTA issues), the following mats are available for sale (all in immaculate condition) - included again are current retail prices for reference:

Herbie's Way Excellent II (3mm)

http://herbiesaudiolab.home.att.net/ttmat.htm - £45.00 ($68.00) *NOW SOLD*

Funk Firm Achromat (5mm black)

http://www.needles-and-spins.co.uk/pd_the_funk.cfm - £52.95 *NOW SOLD*

SDS Isoplatmat

http://www.hi-fi-accessories-1.com/Archive/sds-platter-mat.htm - £79.95 *NOW SOLD*

Hi Marco

Adam Smith has the Jelco SA-750D for review and now David Price editor of Hi Fi World has asked for one! Are you a trend setter or what?

Over Christmas we are going to move our test area from our industrial unit to my computer room, so next time you visit you will see this http://www.soundhifi.com/test.html

Regards

Dave

Interesting, Dave. I just do my 'thang' as I see best... Somehow I think you'll be selling a lot more Jelco's soon ;)

Why did you decide to go with the Hi-Fi Mod? I presently have an SL-1200 MKII and I am using the acromat and tonearm damper. I'm trying to decide if I want to rewire the arm and go with the KAB power supply. It appears from reading this forum that you had all the Mods from KAB. What convinced you to go another route? Have you achieved a greater sonic level with the other mods? If you have, I would appreciate a description. TIA

Hi Kaizen,

Welcome to AoS. I'll get to this later. In the meantime, please pop by the welcome area and say hello in the normal manner (you'll see what's required by looking at the other threads there).

This procedure is required by all new members joining our community :)

Go for the SoundHiFi mod... Much higher level of craftsmanship.

As someone who always rejects modded gear for review, what Dave's done to the 1200, looks like it was built that way from the factory.

Sounds fantastic as well....

You won't be sorry!
