thanks I am trying to get an image in picassa to be visible to anyone who clicks on the link. I have removed the advert until I figure out how to do this

How did you even get that far? All I can see on Lance's post is the number "1"... What's all that about?

Marco.

Ah, I see... Why not simply copy the necessary image to your computer, and upload it here, via Photobucket or Imageshack? :)

Marco.

I own this amp, having bought it years ago...I would like to sell it as I have too much kit.

Looks like a WAD kit88 stylie. What is written on the power valves?

The large valves are Edicron 6CA7 and the small valves are 6AU6

Well a 6ca7 is an EL34, so it is a PP EL34 by the looks. Are you familiar with WAD?

It looks a bit odd - is the mains transformer inside the case?

Ali Tait

Yes, more than likely. WAD did that with some of their amps. I can also say it's from the 90's, as it doesn't have the aluminium front plate.

The small valves at the front are 6au6, what are the ones behind? Look like ecc82/83.

Ah, found it. It's a WAD KEL34 amp. See this thread-

I just found it listed in the December 1999 issue of the magazine - it was £295 with the valves & £240 without.
I'll look for the article if you're interested.
There was an upgrade kit - another £135

It was in Supplements 39 & 40 - Oct & Nov 1998.
The photos in these articles show two toroidal output transformers mounted on top.
The upgrade kit replaced these with transformers like the ones shown in your photo, so it looks like you've got the upgraded version. The article describing the upgrade was in June 1999.

The EI transformers in the KEL34 were substituted rather early on and were not an upgrade as such; certainly the kit that I bought in '99 had EIs even though I was expecting toroids. Nice little amp, replaced after a few years with its KT88 big brother which had a very similar circuit but beefier everything.

Confirmed, it's a WAD KEL34. I have a mostly-completed kit in my garage. Mine is the version with three toroids - the mains one is inside the chassis.

I have the articles which I can scan if anyone needs them.

Thank you very much for all the replies

....mine is the upgraded version and not used much if at all in the last 5 or so years since I got my EAR 509s....
